Sustainable IT Services News for 26 November 2025: HP Honors Sustainability Partner; Tesla Energy Growth; Trane Technologies Invests K&P; More

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis for channel partners, MSPs, climate accounting professionals, consultants and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Partner of the Year: HP New Zealand honored Cyclone Computer Company Ltd. as its Sustainability Partner of the Year for its approach to device protection bag recovery, ChannelLife New Zealand reported. Related: HP sustainability strategy and channel partner implications.

2. Tesla Energy Business Growth: Tesla’s energy generation and storage business now represents 12.1% of company revenue, expanding 27.1% year-to-date and rapidly becoming the company’s most scalable segment, Investing.com reported. Related: Tesla AI strategy timeline, milestones and challenges.

3. Data Center Energy Partnership: Vestforbrænding, Denmark’s largest waste-to-energy company, plans to use excess heat from atNorth’s DEN01 data center campus within Vestforbrænding’s district heating network, the companies said.

4. Executive Leadership: Italian luxury menswear maker Ermenegildo Zegna outlined a succession plan, as CEO Gildo Zegna moved to the role of executive chairman, while his sons Edoardo and Angelo are stepping up to lead the family-owned group's flagship brand, Reuters reported. Finance chief Gianluca Tagliabue will become CEO in January 2026. Also, Edoardo Zegna, currently Zegna's chief marketing and digital officer and the group's chief sustainability officer, will lead all aspects of brand strategy, from image to communications and, together with Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori, the design of the collections and stores, FashionNetwork reported. 5. DOGE Disbanded: DOGE is officially disbanded—with eight months remaining in its mandate, The Wall Street Journal noted. President Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk originally envisioned the Department of Government Efficiency as a way to cut U.S. federal government spending by $1 trillion or more. But DOGE never lived up to its ambitious financial targets. Related: DOGE goals, timeline and recap.

6. Layoffs - HP: HP layoffs will impact roughly 6,000 jobs by 2028, the PC and printer maker said. The company laid off an additional 1,000 to 2,000 employees in February 2025, as part of a previously announced restructuring plan, CNN Business noted. HP is struggling to navigate rising memory chip prices, triggered by AI data center buildouts.

7. Layoffs - Battery Recycling Startup: Redwood Materials layoffs involved dozens of job cuts -- or 5% to 6% of staff. The startup, led by Tesla co-founder JB Straubel, is scaling back some of its ambitious projects to refocus on tapping into demand for grid-scale batteries, Bloomberg reported. B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. For Sale - Renewable Energy Business: EDF. a state-owned utility in France, may sell up to 100% of its stake in a U.S. renewable energy unit while focusing on domestic nuclear operations, Reuters reported. Perhaps on a related note, EDF power solutions North America named Amy Lloyd as CFO in July 2025. The business unit specializes in onshore and offshore wind; solar; energy storage; EV charging and related services.

2. Investment - Smart Building Technology: Trane Technologies plans to acquire 49% of Kieback&Peter Group (K&P), a building automation software and solutions provider based in in Berlin, Germany. Moreover, Trane will have the option to assume full ownership after a three-year period. The deal will help Trane to accelerate climate innovation in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, the company said. K&P has 1,700 employees across 50 locations.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. India Green Power Policy Debate: India's renewable energy ministry has urged the power regulator to delay plans for stricter rules requiring wind and solar producers to stick more closely to their grid supply commitments, warning the move could deter investment, Reuters reported.
