HPE and Juniper Networks Sustainability News, Milestones, Partnerships and Net Zero Timelines

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) expects to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 -- a decade faster than previously expected -- according to a 2022 statement. Juniper Networks, which HPE announced plans to acquire in early 2024, also has a 2040 net-zero goal.
The HPE journey toward net zero, led by Chief Sustainability Officer Monica Batchelder, involves multiple internal milestones along with new green IT tools and sustainable software developments for partners and customers.
In a prepared statement about the journey, HPE CEO Antonio Neri said in June 2023: “Sustainability is inextricably linked to every part of our business. At HPE, we have an opportunity and an obligation to help customers drive data-first modernization projects that are more accessible, responsible, inclusive, and sustainable. Our expertise in partnering throughout the lifecycle of our relationship with customers to help them achieve their sustainable IT objectives is a key reason why organizations choose HPE.”

June 2024: HPE and Juniper Milestones
Partnership - IT Services: Hewlett Packard Enterprise and engineering consultancy Danfoss are partnering to deliver HPE IT Sustainability Services – Data Center Heat Recovery, an "off-the shelf heat recovery module, helping organizations manage and value waste heat as they transition towards more sustainable IT facilities," the organizations said.
AI Data Centers:Direct liquid cooling can help cloud service providers (CSPs) and data center customers to more efficiency run generative AI workloads -- especially in anticipation of Nvidia Blackwell GPUs in late 2024 or early 2025, HPE CEO Antonio Neri asserts.
April 2024: HPE and Juniper Business Milestones
Cloud Services - Engineering Consultancy: Danfoss, the global engineering firm, will leverage HPE GreenLake, SAP S/4HANA Cloud, and the RISE with SAP program to "accelerate the company’s sustainable cloud journey," the companies announced.
March 2024: HPE and Juniper Networks Business Milestones
Funding: HPE invested in Greenly, which develops carbon accounting software for small and midsize businesses. Greenly's software as an opportunity to assist enterprise customers with sustainable IT infrastructure initiatives.
Simon Ewington, worldwide channel and partner ecosystem leader, HPE
Channel Chief: In a blog, HPE Channel Chief Simon Ewington shared his partner outlook for 2024. Among the areas to watch: The HPE Sustainability Insight Center and associated sustainability services to help customers reduce their IT carbon footprints. Ewington's blog surfaced shortly before the company disclosed plans to acquire Juniper Networks for $14 billion.
Supercomputing Infrastructure: Italian energy company Eni will leverage HPE technology for HPC6 -- a supercomputing infrastructure and green data center effort. Eni specializes in the exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons and various energy and petroleum products.
November 2023: HPE Sustainability Partnership
Partnership - AI and Cloud Services: A DarkByte partnership will roll out AI cloud services powered by renewable energy such as solar, batteries, hydro, and nanotech, the companies said. The relationship leverages Cray XD supercomputers, featuring NVIDIA H100 GPUs, to "provide the scale and performance required to support compute-intensive workloads such as AI, machine learning, and modeling and simulation workloads."
