HP Inc., the major PC and printer supplier, is striving to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its value chain by 2040.

April 27, 2024 - MSP Partnership Delivers Device as a Service: NTT Data, a global MSP (managed IT service provider), has launched Sustainable Device as a Service to help customers reduce PC-related carbon emissions. The effort, which leverages HP Managed Device Services, "can be a significant contributor in driving down carbon emissions by up to 35% and provide up to 15% cost savings when it comes to TCO of laptops," NTT Data said.

April 16, 2024 - Financial Accelerator: HP Inc. and the HP Foundation have selected 10 nonprofit organizations in Brazil, Canada, and Poland for the 2024 Digital Equity Accelerator. Each nonprofit will receive a $100,000 grant, about $100,000 in HP technology, and a six-month training program to help strengthen capacity and scale impact, the PC and printer maker said.

March 7, 2024 - Hardware Lifecycle Management: The company unveiled a new Device Life Extension Service that maximizes device performance and the life of existing HP PCs. The company also introduced a Partner Certified Refurbishment program, and the company expanding its PC refurbishment program to the US. Details surfaced in this blog from Grant Hoffman, SVP & GM, HP Renew Solutions; and Marcos Razon, SVP & president, HP Lifecycle Services.

March 6, 2024 - Partner Program Expansion: The company on May 1 (2024) will extend its partner sustainability assessment and training initiative -- known as HP Amplify Impact -- to Distribution Partners and nearly 50 countries. The program, launched in 2021, has equipped over 40% of Amplify partners with the knowledge and tools needed to champion positive change, the company said.

HP Sustainability Strategy & Partner Programs: 2023 Milestones

November 2023: Keep an eye on HP Renew solutions -- which include carbon neutral computing services, device recovery services, sanitization services, deinstallation services and recycling services. HP Renew capabilities are available now in India, and will expand into additional markets during the company's fiscal year 2024, according to CEO Enrique Lores.

October 2023: The company now has one global partner program for all of its products, solutions and services. Moreover, the PC and printer maker has expanded the HP Amplify Impact Program -- which focuses on sustainability -- to distributors, as well as partners across 48 countries.

October 2023: The company introduced a New Device Refurbishment Offering. On the printer front, the company plans to introduce a reimagined OfficeJet Pro portfolio in January 2024. The new printers will feature EvoMore -- which HP has positioned as the "most sustainable cartridge in our ink cartridge range yet."

May 2023: HP has adopted the Corporate Knights Sustainable Economy Taxonomy, CEO Enrique Lores told Wall Street analysts during the company's earnings call. The move aligns with the HP Amplify Impact program -- which seeks to empower partners with sustainability knowledge and associated business strategies.

PCs, Hardware and IT Infrastructure: Sustainability Initiatives Accelerate

Numerous technology hardware and IT infrastructure providers have expanded their partner programs to include sustainability efforts.

For instance, Dell Technologies is expanding its partner program to include new competencies focused on sustainability and ESG, Chief Partner Officer Denise Millard disclosed in February 2024.

Moreover, names like Cisco SystemsHewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)IBMLenovo and Pure Storage, just to name a few -- are rapidly injecting sustainability and green IT services into their partner programs.

And in the public cloud services provider (CSP) market, Amazon Web Services (AWS)Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure each are shifting to renewable energy sources while also introducing sustainability applications for customers and partners.
