A. Sustainable Technology, Talent, Partnerships and Green IT Alliances
1. Freemium Software: Schneider Electric has launched Zeigo Activate Lite, a freemium version of its flagship decarbonization SaaS platform. The software, Schneider Electric asserts, allows customers to:
- Establish a carbon emissions baseline;
- set a measurable decarbonization target; calculate ongoing Scope 1 and 2 emissions using readily available energy data; and
- connect with solution providers that can help with renewable energy and efficiency goals.
This freemium version is now available at no cost to new software users, the company said.
2. Software Suite: Novata has launched "Novata for Companies," a platform that includes:
- Novata’s Sustainability Management Solution: A workspace for businesses to collect, securely store, and collaborate on sustainability data.
- Novata Carbon Navigator: Allows companies to measure Scopes 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions with Novata’s digitized carbon calculator.
- Novata’s CSRD Solution: Combines ESRS data management tools, a digitized double materiality solution, and advisory services.
3. Software - CSRD Compliance: Cority, a provider of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) and sustainability software, has launched a CSRD Enablement Kit. The kit is "designed to assist organizations in meeting the rigorous requirements of the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)," the company said.
4. IT Infrastructure: PC, server and data center hardware provider Lenovo is calling on partners and customers to participate in sustainability workshops while also leveraging carbon offset services.
5. Partnership - Professional Services & Environmental Software: WSP -- the engineering, environment and professional services firm -- has partnered with Circa Technologies, a developer of tools and data for life cycle assessment (LCA). Circa's technology "analyzes the potential environmental impacts of products and services during their entire life cycle."
6. Partnership - Real Estate Carbon Emissions: Visual Lease (VL) and Workiva are partnering to promote carbon accounting and sustainability management to enterprise real estate and equipment customers.
7. Partnership - Solar Energy Infrastructure: Cypress Creek Renewables, a solar and storage developer and independent power producer, has selected Maxeon solar panels for installation at key power plant projects in the U.S., the two companies said.
8. Home and EV Energy Management: TeraHive has launched three smart energy solutions that "optimize energy storage, usage, efficiency and performance," the company said. TeraHive has also integrated with the Lumin smart panel to "enhance home battery power backup solutions."
9. Direct Air Capture Deal: Google plans to purchase carbon removal credits from direct air capture (DAC) provider Holocene, the search giant announced.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. Investment - Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Brookfield Asset Management will invest up to $1.1 billion in Infinium, in a push to accelerate the availability of low-carbon sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), Reuters reported.
2. Funding - Renewable Energy Management Systems: Elum Energy of Paris, France, has raised $13 million in Series B funding led by Energize Capital, with participation from existing investors Alter Equity and Cota Capital. The funding will support Elum's U.S. business launch, along with product developments in the energy storage and EV integration categories.
3. Funding - Water Resilience: WaterEquity has raised more than $100 million for its Water & Climate Resilience Fund. The fund will invest in businesses focused on water stewardship, sustainable development, and climate resilience. Key investors include the Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund. Starbucks and Xylem also are strategic investors, alongside Ecolab, Reckitt, Gap Inc., and others, WaterEquity said.
4. M&A - Solar Consulting: AMS Renewable Energy, a distributed solar and storage EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company in New York City, has acquired Collective Solar, a distributed generation solar construction firm in Oswego, New York. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

1. COP29 - Activist Concerns: U.S. Senator Ben Cardin called for Azerbaijan officials to release 15 jailed activists and journalists ahead of the COP29 summit, Barron's reported. Cardin is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
2. United States- Greenwashing: The SEC charged Keurig Dr Pepper with making inaccurate statements regarding the recyclability of its K-Cup single use beverage pods. Keurig will pay $1.5 million to settle the SEC charges.
