Sustainable IT Services News for MSPs and Channel Partners: 10 October 2025

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis for channel partners, MSPs, climate accounting professionals, and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Executive Leadership - San Diego Ousts CSO: The city of San Diego, California has dismissed Chief Sustainability Officer Shelby Rust Buso, and essentially eliminated its sustainability and mobility department in February 2025 amid various budget cuts, The Voice of San Diego reported. Still, a new chief sustainability officer “will be identified shortly,” the report said. Related: List of sustainability executives on the move.

2. Partnership - Hosting Services: UmbHost and Growcreate have partnered to deliver sustainable hosting infrastructure services.

3. Talent - Data Centers: atNorth, which provides sustainable IT services and data centers in the Nordics, has named Camilla O’Leary as director of client management; Howard Shutt as director of hyperscale sales; and Espen Bjanes as sales director.

4. Research - ITAD Market Growth Forecast: The global market for IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) services will reach $57.4 billion by 2032, up from $19.9 billion in 2022, according to Allied Market Research. That's an 11.5% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), the report said. The Allied Market Research forecast was more bullish than another ITAD growth forecast from Market Research Future (item 4 here). 5. Honor - Building Energy Management: Budderfly, which develops virtual power plant technology for retail chains, was named one of the Best Inventions of 2025 by TIME. Budderfly in September 2025 completed a $100 million debt raise from Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit, bringing its total capital raised to over $1 billion.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. M&A Rumor - Energy Management Software: PSI Software appears to be up for sale, according to Reuters. Potential buyers include private equity firm Thoma Bravo, HgCapital and Warburg Pincus, the report said. During the first half of 2025, PSI's Grid & Energy Management revenue was 61.1 million euros, up 26.9% from 48.2 million euros in the first half of 2024.

2. M&A - Consulting Services: WSP Global has acquired Ricardo PLC, a UK-based engineering firm that offers air quality, water management, energy resilience, policy strategy and rail expertise. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

3. M&A - Sustainability Data: Worldly has acquired GoBlu, which develops a platform for chemical inventory management, traceability and compliance. GoBlu, based in Hong Kong, positions itself as a sustainable solutions provider. The acquisition will "transforming how the industry manages sustainability and supply chain risk," Worldy asserted. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. European Union - Lobbying vs Climate Law: TotalEnergies and Siemens have called on European governments to abolish one of the EU's flagship corporate sustainability laws in order to boost the continent's competitiveness, Reuters reported.

2. Australia - Revised Fossil Fuel Policy: Australia's Queensland state government said it would run coal power plants at least into the 2040s, reversing a previous plan to pivot rapidly to renewables and in turn making national emissions reduction targets harder to achieve, Reuters reported.

3. United Kingdom - EV Charger Network Growth: The United Kingdom EV charging infrastructure grew 22% in Q3 of 2025 compared to Q3 of 2024, Zapmap reported. The UK now has more than 86,000 public charging points. across over 43,500 locations, the report said.

4. United States - EV Charger Network Growth: The nation's charging infrastructure expanded 19% in the first nine months of 2025, Bloomberg reported based on U.S. Department of Energy data.
