Sustainable IT Services News for Channel Partners and MSPs: 18 September 2025

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis -- written for channel partners, MSPs, green IT service providers, climate accounting professionals, and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. IT Services: SPIE has launched Sustainability Services to help Swiss customers embrace sustainable IT practices. The effort includes IT lifecycle assessments; sustainability IT maturity assessments; energy optimization for buildings; hardware reuse; and awareness training.

2. Partnership - IT Services: Sustainable IT reseller Sumillion has partnered with Asanti Data Centres and IT distributor Northamber PLC. The collaboration "unites three organizations committed to delivering eco-friendly, future-ready IT infrastructure while empowering customers to reach their environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals," the companies said.

3. Partnership - IT Services and Edge AI Solutions: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Qualcomm have launched the TCS Innovation Lab, a space for co-innovation with Qualcomm in Bengaluru. The companies plan to co-create "smart, scalable, and sustainable Edge AI capabilities utilizing Qualcomm platforms."

4. Partnership - Infrastructure: Schneider Electric partnered with 20 organizations on the Accelerating Resilient Infrastructure Initiative — a nationwide effort to "rapidly deploy resilient, community-based energy systems across the U.S," the company said. Confirmed partners include consulting firms ArcadisBaringa and Viridi Edge; electrical distributor Graybar; global insurer Zurich; and the nonprofit Resilient Cities Network.

5. Partnership - AI Infrastructure: Schneider Electric and NVIDIA unveiled reference designs that "significantly accelerate time to deployment and aid operators as they adopt AI-ready infrastructure solutions," the two companies said.

6. Partnership - Asia Data Centers: Keppel's Connectivity division and Dell Technologies are partnering to jointly develop AI platforms and energy efficient data centers across Asia, AI Invest reported.

7. Partnership - Data Center Cooling Solutions: MIDAS and Oleon are partnering to deliver "efficient, sustainable cooling" solutions for data centers.

9. Higher Education - Renewable Energy: Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has installed its first Sunbolt solar-powered charging station. A student-led initiative and a donation from former university President Paul LeBlanc propelled the project forward.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches.

1. Accelerator: The WFP Innovation Accelerate and the Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) is seeking startups for its Asia cohort as of September 2025. Related: See more than 90 climate tech and sustainability accelerators listed.

2. Funding - Data Centers: Green data center developer Soluna Holdings has secured a $100 million scalable credit facility from Generate Capital, the companies said.

3. Funding - Building Energy Management: Budderfly's annual revenue run rate has surpassed $250 million, achieving an average of 66% year-over-year growth for three consecutive years, the company said. The company did not mention how much of the growth was organic vs. acquired revenue. Budderfly acquired Sunverge’s Distributed Energy Resource Management (DERM) platform in August 2024. More recently, the company completed a $100 million debt raise from Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit, bringing its total capital raised to over $1 billion, Budderfly said in September 2025.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. European Union - Regulation Debate: Exxon Mobile called for European leaders to repeal Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive -- a law that would fine corporations and is threatening to become a flashpoint in US-EU trade negotiations, Bloomberg reported.

2. European Union - Blown Deadline: European Union countries' climate ministers are expected to confirm on September 18 that the bloc will miss a global deadline to set new emissions-cutting targets, due to divisions over the plans among EU governments, Reuters reported.

3. COP30 - Lodging Trends: Only 40% of countries have booked lodging for the conference. Also, the Trinidad and Tobago government plans to "downsize" its conference delegation, according to a local news report. Related: All COP30 news.
