Sustainable IT Services News for Channel Partners and MSPs: 11 September 2025

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis -- written for channel partners, MSPs, green IT service providers, climate accounting professionals, and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Hardware and Software: Lenovo continues to tout various hardware, software and services efforts that help customers with various IT sustainability challenges.

2. Cloud Services and Sustainability Consulting: Consulting firm ENGIE Impact is leveraging Azure AI Foundry, Azure Databricks, and Microsoft 365 Copilot "to streamline operations and unlock data-driven insights that meet the needs of its clients," according to a Microsoft-produced article.

3. Talent - Built Environments: SRE has promoted multiple employees to key positions. The updates include: Lamya Salem becomes sustainability director; Nikita Pevnev is now building physics director; and Jean Dib and Manas Bane both are now senior building physics consultants. 

4. Onsite Energy: Honeywell has introduced Ionic Modular All-in-One, a "compact, end-to-end battery energy storage system (BESS) designed for the commercial and industrial segments," the company said.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. M&A - Industrial Software: Private equity firm TPG will acquire Proficy -- an industrial software business -- from GE Vernova for $600 million, the companies said. GE Vernova, meanwhile, continues to focus on energy transition solutions and services.

2. Accelerator - Cloud Services: Amazon in September 2025 invited 11 new start-ups and scale-ups to join the ClimateTech cohort of the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator. Key backers include Founders Intelligence, which has been part of Accenture since November 2021.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. United States vs European Union: The U.S. will defend American companies from digital and environmental regulations taking effect in the European Union that may unfairly target them, according to Andy Puzder, the new US ambassador to the EU, Bloomberg reported.

2. Germany - Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs): Germany is considering creating a €500 million (US$587 million) program to help businesses and renewables developers sign more power-purchase agreements, in an effort to cut energy costs for industry, Bloomberg reported.
