Sustainable IT Services News 10 November 2025: Deep Green, Greenly Carbon Accounting, Lenovo, Norrsent AI Software, SBTi Guidance, More

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis for channel partners, MSPs, climate accounting professionals, consultants and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Research: Roughly 92% of executives say they prioritize technology partners that reduce energy use and their carbon footprint, but only 46% say their current datacenter is designed to support these goals, according to Lenovo's Datacenter of the Future study, The Register reported. 2. AI and IT Services - Risk Management:  Norrsent launched an AI-native Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) platform and introduced a Climate Partner Program -- a global effort to support organizations pursuing decarbonization and sustainability goals, the company said.

3. Partnership - Carbon Accounting Software: Media company BizClik has adopted Greenly as its carbon accounting software platform.

4. SBTi Revisions: The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has published a 97-page draft of its next Corporate Net-Zero Standard, Trellis reported. The draft recognizes companies for climate finance and carbon removal investments, provides clearer guidance on Scope 2 and 3 commitments and prescribes what should be included in climate transition plans, the report said.

5. Career Move 1: The Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy has hired John Keen as a sustainability consultant. Keen also remains managing director at RKMS.

6. Career Move 2: PwC veteran Michael Stewart has joined Unilever as chief corporate affairs and communications officer. His role also includes sustainability. Stewart succeeds Rebecca Marmot. Related: List of sustainability executive moves in November 2025.

7. Data Center Project - Michigan: Deep Green wants to build a $120 million sustainable data center in Lansing, Michigan.

8. Data Center Challenges - California: Two of the world’s biggest data center developers have projects in Nvidia's hometown that may sit empty for years because the local utility isn’t ready to supply electricity, Bloomberg reported. The data center developers -- Digital Realty Trust and Stack Infrastructure are waiting for Silicon Valley Power to upgrade its energy capacity in Santa Clara, California, the report said.

9. Furloughs - Solar Technology: Qcells, the U.S. solar manufacturing arm of Korea's Hanwha, said it would furlough 1,000 workers at its Georgia factories because shipments of components it needs from overseas are being routinely stalled by U.S. customs officials. 10. Lawsuits - OpenAI and Suicides: OpenAI is facing seven lawsuits claiming its ChatGPT drove people to suicide and harmful delusions even when they had no prior mental health issues. (Source: EuroNews) Related: List of generative AI lawsuits, judgments and court rulings.

11. Greenwashing - Aviation Settlement: Twenty airlines -- including Air France, Lufthansa and KLM -- have agreed to stop using environmental claims that the European Union considers misleading, ESG Today reported.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. M&A - Technology Recycling: Black Gold Recycling has acquired Reteck Envirotech Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Hong Kong and US–based Li Tong Group, Chemical Industry Digest reported. The acquisition strengthens Black Gold’s role in India’s circular economy, particularly in sustainable reverse supply chain management for batteries, plastics, solar panels, and electronic waste, the report said.

2. M&A - Consulting: SLR Consulting has acquired Fuse Advisors Inc., a Vancouver-based mining advisory and management consultancy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Related: List of SLR Consulting acquisitions.

1. Carbon Market Coalition: The European Union and China agreed to join Brazil in a coalition aimed at improving collaboration on carbon markets, Bloomberg reported. Related: COP30 news.
