Sustainable IT Services News 02 December 2025: Apple AI Executive Change; Workiva Hires Adobe Veteran; AWS Partners of the Year

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis for channel partners, MSPs, climate accounting professionals, consultants and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Executive Leadership - IT Services: Circular technology solution provider Foxway is hiring AFRY veteran Sara Lindstrand as chief sustainability officer (CSO). Lindstrand will join Foxway from AFRY, where she currently serves as head of sustainability. Her move to Foxway will be effective on March 2, 2026. Foxway, founded in 2009, is based in Sweden. The company, backed by more than 1,000 employees, generates more than SEK 8.3 billion (US$877.3 million) in annual turnover.

2. Executive Leadership - Software: Workiva has hired Adobe and ServiceNow veteran Deepak Bharadwaj as executive VP & chief product officer. Bharadwaj now leads Workiva’s product and UX organizations. Workiva develops software portfolio for finance, accounting, sustainability, risk and audit teams.

3. Executive Leadership - Head of Sustainability: BDO Ireland has hired Dorothy Maxwell as a new partner and head of sustainability to further assist customers with ESG requirements and compliance strategies. Related: List of sustainability executive updates for December 2025.

4. AWS - Sustainability Partners of the Year: AWS named the following companies as its sustainability partners of the year for 2025: Informatica (global); Deloitte (North America); Blend (Latin America); Infosys (Europe, Middle East and Africa); Intangles (Asia Pacific and Japan); and Lark Technologies (Greater China Region). 5. Expanded ITAD Services: Synetic Technologies has expanded its IT asset disposition and IT Asset Lifecycle Management (ITAD). The company leverages proceeds from end-of-life asset disposition to offset the costs of upstream services, including deployment, onsite repairs, remote device management, and secure storage solutions, Synetic said.

6. Partnership - ITAD: Techbros Electronic Recycle & ITAD has partnered with the Phoenix Suns. Together, Techbros and the NBA franchise will focus on statewide circularity awareness campaigns; in-arena sustainability messaging; and community events.

7. Partnership - Data Centers and Nuclear Power: Equinix plans to leverage Stellaria nuclear power technology for certain data centers, the companies said. Schneider Electric is involved in the agreement. Financial terms were not disclosed. Related: AI data centers and nuclear power timeline.

8. Partnership - Building Decarbonization and Cloud Services: Trane Technologies and AWS are showcasing a successful collaboration in building decarbonization, the two companies said. The effort involves BrainBox AI, a smart building technology provider that Trane acquired in 2024.

9. Research - AI Data Center Energy Consumption Forecast: Power demand from US data centers is set to surge to 106 gigawatts by 2035, according to BloombergNEF, a 36% increase from the research provider’s previous outlook in April 2025, the researcher said. 10. Research - Smart Home Market Growth Forecast: The Smart Home Energy Management System Market will reach $12.3 billion in 2033, up from $5.6 billion in 2024, Market Research Intellect reported. That's a 9.5% compound annual growth rate from 2026 to 2033, the forecast said.

11. Apple - AI Executive Shakeup: Apple AI chief John Giannandrea is stepping down in the most visible shake up yet to the iPhone maker’s AI group since launching the struggling Apple Intelligence suite in 2024, CNBC noted. Microsoft and Google DeepMind veteran Amar Subramanya will succeed Giannandrea in the Apple AI role. Related: Apple sustainability strategy and channel partner implications.

12. Tesla - Employee Departures: Sunday Robotics has hired several former Tesla staff members to work on its Memo home robot, Business Insider reported. Related: Tesla AI strategy.

13. Layoffs - Carbon Capture Technology: Carbon8 Systems, a University of Greenwich spin-out, has laid off its staff and is seeking a buyer for its intellectual property, according to to Consulting UK. Related: List of sustainability industry layoffs.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. Financing - Renewable Energy Projects: Ecoplexus scored a $300 million credit facility involving KKR for solar and storage projects across the United States, the energy company said.

2. Accelerator - Kenya Startups: For its 2025 cohort, the Standard Chartered Kenya and Strathmore University’s Women in Tech Accelerator attracted 84 applications, with 15 startups selected for a 12-week accelerator program, Dawan Africa reported. The program focused on sustainability, ESG integration, financial modlling, and product development. Related: List of 100+ sustainability accelerators and incubators.

3. Accelerator - Executive Transition: IdeaSpace, a startup accelerator and early-stage venture investment arm of the MVP Group of Companies, named Alwyn Rosel as the new executive director of IdeaSpace and QBO Innovation, succeeding Jay Fajardo. IdeaSpace is based in the Philippines.

4. Investment Fund: Nordic Capital is reportedly raising money for a new sustainability fund focused on the green transition, Amwatch reported. The fund has a target size of just over SEK 6.5bn (EUR 592 million), according to business daily Dagens industri (Di).

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. United States - New York Financial Policy: New York City Comptroller Brad Lander is urging three of the city’s pension funds to drop BlackRock because of “inadequate” climate plans, the latest move to penalize investment firms for failing to tackle global warming, Politico reported.

2. Germany - Renewable Energy Grid Concerns: The head of German utility EON SE said Europe’s largest economy should slow the pace of wind and solar expansion, alleging the country’s power grids are struggling to cope with the surge in new renewable projects, Bloomberg reported.
