Sustainable IT and Climate Tech News 11 April 2025: Dell CSO Resigns; ERM and Salesforce Net Zero Cloud Partnership; More

Here is this week's sustainable IT services and climate tech news, research and analysis -- written for technology partners, green IT service providers, CIOs, chief sustainability officers (CSOs) and climate accounting professionals.

A. Sustainable IT, Talent, Partnerships and Green Tech Alliances

1. Dell CSO Exits: Dell Chief Sustainability Officer Cassandra Garber has stepped down from the hardware maker, and plans to "shift gears from keyboards to dashboards," according to a LinkedIn update. Details on her new role are "coming very soon," she added.

2. Executive Leadership - IT Asset Disposition (ITAD): Full Circle Electronics, backed by investment firm Tide Rock, has hired Dave Daily to succeed Tracey Haslam as CEO. Full Circle has acquired multiple ITAD service providers since 2018.

3. Partnership - Cloud Services: ESG Book, in partnership with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), has launched LEO, a sustainability disclosure platform built on Google Cloud.

4. Partnership - Consultancy and SaaS Applications: ERM, which positions itself as the largest specialized sustainability consultancy, has deepened its Salesforce relationship. Indeed, ERM is now a global tier one Net Zero Cloud Advisory & Implementation Partner.

5. Partnership - Construction Software: Eagle Point Software and Green Badger are partnering to offer sustainability software training to construction businesses.

6. Software Business Strategy: At a Cority software customer conference, new CEO Ryan Magee shared his vision for AI- and mobile-centric EHS and sustainability software. The effort includes Integrated sustainability management, which allows customers to connect data from EHS and sustainability for a more complete picture of risk and performance, Cority executives said.

B. Sustainability M&A, Climate Tech Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches

1. Funding - ESG Reporting Software: Tracera (formerly ESG Flo) has raised $12 million in Series A funding. Foundry led the round.

2. Funding - Home Battery Backup: Household-battery startup Base Power Inc. raised $200 million in Series B funding as the Texas-based firm gears up to expand on a national scale, Bloomberg reported. Base installs residential backup power systems at a fraction of the cost of traditional natural gas- or propane-fueled generators, the report said.

3. Investment: NEC X has invested in SeafoodAI, a sustainable food startup that specializes in real-time biometric data and AI-powered traceability. The announcement coincides with SeafoodAI's graduation from NEC X's Elev X! Ignite program.

4. M&A - IT Services: Cloud distributor Exertis has acquired Group 8, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, according to IT Channel Oxygen. Group 8 will tuck into MTR Group, a circular technology business that Exertis owns. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

5. M&A - Environmental, Health and Safety Services (EHS): U.S. Compliance (USC), has acquired OSHA/Environmental Compliance Systems (OECS) of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

6. M&A - Environmental Data Services: Earth Finance, has acquired Climate Engine, a developer of Spatial Finance technology that helps businesses quantify and reduce their climate and sustainability risks. Climate Engine is a Google Cloud Ready partner in the Sustainability category. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News

1. United States - Executive Order: The Trump administration issued an Executive Order that counters many state-level climate energy regulations.

2. United States Policy: The U.S. Department of Energy is weighing cuts to billions of dollars in funding for projects meant to demonstrate nascent energy storage and carbon capture, Reuters reported.

3. European Union: The European Commission is considering counting international carbon credits towards its next climate target, a move that could weaken the CO2-cutting efforts it demands from domestic industries, Reuters reported.

4. European Union - Renewable Energy: European Union countries are projected to install a record amount of renewable energy capacity in 2025, European Commission projections showed, although parts of the sector warned cuts to government support could hamper this growth, Reuters reported.
