1. Retirements: Koppers Holdings announced the retirement of two sustainability-focused executives. Leslie Hyde, senior VP and CSO, will retire effective March 31, 2025. And Joseph Dowd, global VP of zero harm, will retire effective February 28, 2025. Koppers did not mention if or how the company will fill those vacated roles.

4. Amazon - Circular IT: Through Amazon's re:Cycle Reverse Logistics hub, the company is diverting more than 99% of decommissioned hardware from landfills.
5. AI Workloads: Microsoft in August 2024 launched a new datacenter design that optimizes AI workloads and consumes zero water for cooling, the company disclosed.

7. Networking and IT Services: Cisco is now publishing life cycle assessments (LCAs) for some of its hardware products. The LCAs estimate a product's environmental impact associated with its production, transport, use, and end-of-life.
8. Quantum Computing: Google unveiled Willow, a quantum computing chip that vastly outperforms typical supercomputers. Google predicts the Willow chips will help users to research and develop medicines; designing more efficient batteries for electric cars; and accelerating progress in fusion and new energy alternatives, the company said.
9. Software: IBM has integrated the real time observability capabilities of IBM Instana with resource optimization capabilities of IBM Turbonomic. The result: Customers can optimize application performance while reducing wastage, IBM said.
10. Lawsuit: Two families have sued artificial intelligence chatbot company Character.AI, accusing it of providing sexual content to their children and encouraging self-harm and violence, CNN reported.

1. Funding: DeepGreenX Group and Hues Capital have launched a $10 billion USD fund to "drive global advancements in AI, green energy, and computing power and accelerate sustainability initiatives worldwide."
2. Executive Leadership - Private Equity: InfraRed Capital Partners, an international infrastructure asset manager, has hired Ivo Dimov as its new head of sustainability.
3. Executive Leadership: Clean Energy Ventures (CEV) has hired Charlotte Kirk to drive the firm’s European growth. Kirk will help lead the investment strategy, technical due diligence, deal execution and portfolio support, as CEV expands through the launch of its latest $305 million Fund II.
