A. Sustainable Technology, Talent, Partnerships and Green IT Alliances
1. Channel Partner Research: Roughly 50% of partners worldwide said that they expect to generate revenue from sustainability solutions in 2024 – up three percentage points from 47% in 2023, Canalys reported.
2. Software - Scope 3 Carbon Tracking: Optera, a provider of ESG and carbon management software, has launched an Outreach module to "help companies efficiently collect data from suppliers at all phases of emissions-reporting readiness." The module, part of Optera's Supply Chain Manager solution, "will help drive decarbonization across companies' value chains," the company said.
3. Partnership - ESG Solutions: Rimm Sustainability and Carbon Wave are partnering to assist Australia customers with (1) ESG strategy development, (2) carbon footprint assessment and management, (3) stakeholder engagement and reporting and (4) ESG training and capacity planning.
4. Partnership - Procurement Software: Under terms of a partnership, Institute for Supply Management (ISM) members can receive a 30% discount on Kloopify subscriptions. Kloopify's software allows procurement and supply chain managers to "measure, manage, and reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing price, quality, and delivery," the company said.
5. Study - Generative Design and Climate Change: A new report explores the current state of generative design adoption in critical infrastructure industries -- including housing, transportation, water, energy, and more. Generative design engineering tools such as Transcend allow customers to automatically generate complete preliminary engineering designs for a wide range of critical infrastructure projects and vertical assets.Â
6. Generative AI and Edge Devices: Edge devices can help to mitigate the global environmental cost of generative AI, according to edge technology specialist and processor developer Qualcomm Technologies.
7. Financial Results - EV Charging: Blink Charging revenue was $37.6 million in Q1 of 2024, up 73% from Q1 of 2023. Net loss was $17.2 million compared to a net loss of $29.8 million in Q1 of 2023. The results generally beat Wall Street's expectations, but Blink's stock is down around 16% year to date (through May 10, 2024) amid continued concerns about EV market growth rates.
8. Financial Results - Renewable Energy: SolarEdge revenue was $204.4 million in Q1 of 2024, down 78% from $943.9 million in Q1 of 2023. SolarEdge blamed the massive revenue decline on "inventory clearing and typical seasonality." SolarEdge's stock is down roughly 43% year to date (through May 10, 2024). Demand for solar energy continues to grow globally, but some companies have suffered from shifting U.S. government policies and intense competition from China-based manufacturers.
9. Expansion - Waste Management Services: Simplified Environmental Solutions (SES), a waste management specialist,, has opened two new full-service locations in Salt Lake City, Utah and Kansas City, Missouri. The new locations assist global consumer goods producers and other manufacturers that want to implement sustainability programs with zero waste to landfill benchmarks.

1. M&A - Environmental Services: EnviroServe, backed by private equity firm One Rock Capital Partners, has acquired CG Environmental, a full-service environmental and industrial services provider. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2. M&A - Potential EV Charger Network Deal?: BP may be seeking to acquire certain Tesla Supercharger network sites for U.S. expansion, Bloomberg reported.

1. United States - Financial Services Challenges: Wall Street banks told the Federal Reserve that there are significant data gaps that make it tough to properly manage climate-related risks to their businesses, Bloomberg reported.
2. United States - Carbon Reduction Lawsuit: Republican attorneys general from 27 U.S. states and industry trade groups sued the Environmental Protection Agency, seeking to block a landmark rule requiring sweeping reductions in carbon emissions from existing coal-fired power plants and new natural gas plants, Reuters reported.
3. United Kingdom - Carbon Capture Challenges: The UK is considering delaying support for some carbon capture projects until after 2024 as costs rise for the fledgling technology that’s critical to the country’s climate goals.
4. Saudi Arabia - Data Centers: Datavolt will spend $5 billion developing sustainable data centers in Saudi Arabia, Datavolt CEO Wright Nanda told CNN Economic.
