15 Sustainability Executive Moves in October 2025: New Hires, Departures and Career Changes

Chief sustainability officers (CSOs) and their lieutenants remain on the move worldwide. Here's a look at key sustainability executives and their latest career moves as of October 2025.

15. Tourism: TUI Group has promoted Melvin Mak to group director of sustainability and ESG. He reports to Thomas Ellerbeck, member of the group executive committee and chief sustainability officer at TUI Group.

14. Real Estate: Grosvenor has promoted Tor Burrows to chief sustainability officer for the group. The newly created role reports into Executive Trustee Mark Preston.

13. Financial Services: Tower Peak Partners, a sustainable investment firm, has hired KPMG and Plastic Energy veteran Monika Dangova as VP and head of sustainability.

12. Schneider Electric Leadership: Schneider Electric has named Joon Tan as VP of human resources strategy, innovation, communications and sustainability.

11: Ninety One CSO: Ninety One has promoted Daisy Streatfeild from director to chief sustainability officer, Responsible Investor reported.

10. Hertz Hires CSO: Rental car company Hertz Global Holdings has hired Homebound veteran Piero Bussani as executive VP and chief legal officer. Bussani oversees global legal affairs, government relations and sustainability initiatives.

9. Coalition Leader: Carbon Measures has hired former Ernst & Young Head of Sustainability Amy Brachio as CEO. The newly launched global coalition will seek to "establish a more accurate carbon accounting framework and drive market-based solutions to reduce emissions at the lowest cost." Key backers include BlackRock and Exxon Mobil.

8. Former CSO Becomes CEO: Energy and sustainability consultancy Longevity Partners has hired former Cushman & Wakefield Chief Sustainability Officer Jessica Francisco as CEO. Francisco succeeds Longevity founder Etienne Cadestin, who remains on the board.

7. Hired - Environmental Services: Arcwood Environmental has hired Invenergy veteran Carol Roos as chief communications and sustainability officer (CCSO), Arcwood said.

6. Succession Plan: Stephen G. Crawford in January 2026 will succeed Chris M. Killian as executive VP, CTO and chief sustainability officer at Eastman Chemical Company. Killian plans to retire in December 2025 due to family and health reasons.

5. Exit - City of San Diego: The city of San Diego, California has dismissed Chief Sustainability Officer Shelby Rust Buso, The Voice of San Diego reported. The change comes after the city eliminated its sustainability and mobility department in February 2025 amid various budget cuts. Still, a new chief sustainability officer “will be identified shortly,” the report said.

4. Hired - Financial Services: Apollo Global Management has hired Nike veteran Jaycee Pribulsky as partner and chief sustainability officer (CSO).Pribulsky succeeds Dave Stangis, who will transition to a senior advisor role in 2026.

2. Exit - Financial Services: Deutsche Bank AG’s global head of ESG and sustainable finance for fixed income is leaving the bank, Bloomberg reported. Claire Coustar disclosed her departure on Linkedin. In a separate post, Deutsche Bank Chief Sustainability Officer Jorg Eigendorf said Esra Turk has been made global head of sustainable finance in investment banking, which is a newly created position, Bloomberg noted.

1. Hired - Financial Services Consulting: CBRE has hired Emitwise and WSP veteran Tom Wood as global net zero sustainability lead. Wood will provide full-time support to CBRE client Fidelity International.
