M&A: 32 Sustainable Technology & Renewable Energy Buyers, Sellers, Investors for December 2023

Welcome to page two. Here are M&A deals 20 through 32 for December 2023.

E. Consulting, Engineering and Waste Management

20. Engineering and Energy Transitions: Legence, a Blackstone company focused on energy transitions, has acquired OCI Associates (OCI), a Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) consulting engineering and Commissioning firm in Florida. OCI, based in Orlando, offers such services as lighting design, fire protection, and project management. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

21. Consulting: ClimeCo, a global sustainability company, has acquired Ampliphi and its plastic action program, the Plastic Scorecard. These assets will "further enhance ClimeCo's ability to deliver authentic sustainability results with expert-led advisory services," the buyer said. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

22. Engineering: Norda Stelo has acquired CWA Engineers Inc. (CWA), an engineering company based in Vancouver. The deal is "rooted in a commitment to innovation and sustainability," the companies said.

23. Engineering: Verdantas, a private-equity-backed firm specializing in environmental consulting, sustainable engineering, modeling and digital technology, has acquired GRP Engineering, Inc. (GRP).

24. Electrical Integrator: ArchKey Solutions has acquired Total Electric, which specializes in electrical and specialty service, repair, maintenance, and tenant improvements for strategic clients across a diverse set of end markets.

25. Engineering Services:  BPA of Montreal has acquired The Mitchell Partnership (TMP), a consulting engineering firm in Toronto, Ontario. The buyer's engineering expertise spans institutional, commercial, multi-residential and industrial buildings, as well in sustainability. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

26. ESG Consulting: Morrow Sodali has acquired Domestique, a corporate communication and reputation management consultancy that has sustainability and ESG expertise.

27. ESG Consulting: Uniqus Consultech Inc. -- an ESG and accounting & reporting consulting company -- has acquired the global ESG business of Goodera. We'll share more details and perspectives soon.

28. Waste Management: EQT has acquired Heritage Environmental Services (HES) from The Heritage Group. The acquired business provides sustainability and industrial waste management services in the United States. HES has roughly 1,600 employees. The company manages roughly 660,000 tons of industrial waste per year for more than 1,800 customers.

F. Smart Buildings and Building Energy Management (BEM) M&A

29. M&A - Building Access Management: Honeywell plans to acquire Carrier Global's Global Access Solutions business for $4.95 billion in cash. The deal's valuation is roughly 13 times estimated 2023 EBITDA, inclusive of tax benefits and run-rate cost synergies, the buyer said. The deal is expected to close in Q3 of 2024.

30. M&A - Sustainable Real Estate: Stoneweg U.S. has acquired Prose Frontier, soon to be rebranded as Prosper Crossings. The acquired Texas real estate spans approximately 15 acres and features 10, three-story residential buildings alongside a clubhouse and leasing office. Prosper Crossings will see the incorporation of several environmentally conscious improvements including the installation of EV charging stations, and a solar array panel on the leasing office/clubhouse, to minimize the property's carbon footprint.

31. M&A - HVAC Systems: CoolSys -- a provider of sustainable refrigeration, HVAC, energy, and engineering solutions -- has acquired Georgia Air Solutions, a provider of commercial refrigeration and HVAC services.

32. Home Energy Management: Nest Renew, a Google service that helps individuals optimize electricity consumption, and software company OhmConnect are merging in a bid to build a so-called virtual power plant that would improve grid reliability as more renewables come online, Bloomberg reported. The new company will be called Renew Home.
