When NTT Data and NTT complete their long-planned merger in April 2024, David Costa will become chief sustainability business officer (CSBO) for the entire company -- which offers IT services and IT consulting capabilities worldwide.
The NTT Data-NTT merger, announced in May 2022, will generate roughly $27 billion in annual revenues. The combined business is expected to span roughly 190,000 employees. Key focus areas will span IT consulting, applications, data centers, networks, cloud and edge computing.
The company is seeking to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2040, according to an accelerated plan unveiled in mid-2023. The previous goal was 2050, but the company developed the accelerated plan based on the "growing call worldwide" to accelerate such goals.
New Operating Model: Business Unit Details
The new NTT Data-NTT operating model, set to activate in April 2024, will feature five go-to-market business units, the company said. They include:
Three regional business units:
- EMEAL (Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America);
- APAC (Asia-Pacific); and
- North America.
Two global units:
- Global technology services for data center, networking and other infrastructure services.
- Business solutions for such enterprise applications as SAP, as an example.
A global headquarters in Japan will encompass support functions to service those five go-to-market business units, the company added.
Amid that backdrop, David Costa will be chief sustainability business officer (CSBO) for global headquarters, and an executive vice president for the overall company, a statement said.
