Mahindra Group Promotes Ankit Todi to Group Chief Sustainability Officer: 4 Things to Know

Mahindra Group, the Indian multinational conglomerate, has promoted Ankit Todi to group chief sustainability officer.

Here are four things to know about Mahindra Group's business focus and sustainability goals, and Todi's expertise and experience.

1. Business Scope and Scale: Mahindra Group, founded in 1945, is based in Mumbai, India. Annual revenue was roughly US$15 billion in 2023. The business had roughly 260,000 employees as of 2022. Key focus markets include the automotive industry, IT services, finance, hospitality, agriculture, defense and aerospace, logistics, real estate and education.

2. Sustainability Focus:  Mahindra Group is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2040 for Scope 1 and 2 through three main drivers for decarbonization: Energy reduction through energy-efficient equipment and process innovations, carbon sinks created through afforestation, and renewable energy adoption aligned with science-based targets, which are in place for Scope 1,2 and 3.

3. Chief Sustainability Officer Details: Ankit Todi joined the Mahindra Group in 2022, focusing on the company's Planet Positive sustainability strategy. He's deeply involved in the company's Group Sustainability CEO Council, and he is the point person for Mahindra Group relationships involving the World Economic Forum, United Nations Global Compact, and Sustainable Markets Initiative, the company said.

Prior to joining Mahindra, Ankit spent seven years in management consulting at Bain & Company.

Todi holds a Master’s degree in Information & Communication Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, both from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

4.
