Multiple companies, government organizations and agencies hired or promoted chief sustainability officers (CSOs) during February 2024. The CSO appointments happened worldwide at organizations across multiple vertical markets -- including commercial real estate, food and beverage, health care, medical devices and personal care.
Here are the newly named CSOs that technology partners need to know:
1. Ezgi Barcenas: L’Oréal Groupe hired AB Inbev veteran Ezgi Barcenas as chief corporate responsibility officer. Barcenas will succeed Alexandra Palt, who will depart the makeup, cosmetics and personal care company on April 1, 2024 to embark on "a new chapter focused on personal endeavors," L’Oréal said.
2. Robert Biggio: Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) named Robert Biggio as senior VP chief sustainability and real estate officer.
3. Ingrid De Ryck: Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) named Ingrid De Ryck to succeed Ezgi Barcenas as CSO. Barcenas departed AB InBev to join cosmetics giant L’Oréal Groupe as chief corporate responsibility officer (see details above). The CSO transition became effective on March 1, 2024.
4. Andrzej Gutowski: Commercial real estate services firm Colliers International Group has promoted Andrzej Gutowski to ESG chief officer for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
5. Raman Venkatesh: Medtronic hired Raman Venkatesh as VP and chief sustainability officer (CSO). Senior VP Ken Washington disclosed the news via LinkedIn.
New Chief Sustainability Officers: Why Technology Partners Should Care
By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a CSO responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.
Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
