Technip Energies has hired Deloitte veteran Benjamin Lechuga as chief strategy & sustainability officer, and a member of the group executive committee.

Here are four things to know about Lechuga's expertise and experience, and Technip's business and the company's sustainability strategy.

1. Business Scope and Scale: Technip Energies, founded in 2021 after splitting from TechnipFMC, is based in Paris, France. The original Technip SA was established in 1958.

Technip Energies has 16,000 employees across 34 countries. The company positions itself as an engineering and technology company for the energy transition. Key focus areas include LNG (liquified natural gas), hydrogen and ethylene as well as growing market positions in blue and green hydrogen, sustainable chemistry and CO2 management, the company says. Technip revenue was €3.2 billion in the first half of 2024, up 11% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

2. Sustainability Strategy and Goals: Technip is striving to achieve the following goals, according to the company's 2023 Sustainability Report:

  • Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 30% by 2025 compared to 2021.

Chief Sustainability Officers: Why Technology Partners Should Care

By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.

The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO customer needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
