1. IT Devices and IT Services: CDW UK & International has sourced 1,500 Windows laptops delivered through HP’s Carbon Neutral Computing Services, CDW said. CDW in 2020 set a 2040 Carbon Net Zero target for its UK&I business. Related: All HP sustainability news and channel partner implications.
2. Microsoft Perspectives: Charlie Sellars, director of sustainability for the cloud operations and innovations team at Microsoft, talked technology and the environment during an engagement at Duke University. Related: All Microsoft sustainability news and channel partner implications.
3. Carbon Accounting: Several major businesses -- including a global fossil fuel provider -- have launched Carbon Measures, a "new global coalition" that will seek to "establish a more accurate carbon accounting framework and drive market-based solutions to reduce emissions at the lowest cost." Amy Brachio, former Ernst & Young global vice chair and head of sustainability, will lead Carbon Measures as CEO. Key backers include BlackRock and Exxon Mobil.
4. Software - Climate Risk Platform Launch: Consulting firm Arcadis of Amsterdam has launched Climate Risk Nexus, a "digital platform that helps organizations turn complex climate science into clear, decision-grade insights." Early testers and adopters include TAFE NSW of Australia; a multi-state freight rail operator in the United States; and a global manufacturer, the launch announcement said.
5. Aviation: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched the Integrated Sustainability Program (ISP). The certification program offers airlines a "comprehensive sustainability management and assessment framework.

1. Funding - Battery Energy Storage Systems: Return has raised €300 million (US$350 million) from Dutch pension fund manager APG, on behalf of its pension fund client ABP.

1. Canada - Prime Minister Climate Policies: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he’s focused on climate policies likely to have the greatest impact at a time of strained resources and multiple crises, denying criticisms that he’s backpedaling on actions to protect the environment, according to a Bloomberg interview.
2. European Union - Carbon Market Strategy: The European Union will propose stronger measures to curb emissions costs in a new and controversial carbon market to help address concerns that consumers will struggle to afford to heat homes and fill up cars, Bloomberg reported.
3. China Wind Power: China’s wind industry is seeking a path toward doubling its capacity by 2030, Bloomberg reported.
