1. IT Decarbonization Strategies: NCDD (the Nationale Coalitie Duurzame Digitalisering, or National Coalition for Sustainable Digitalisation) has developed SIAA -- a Sustainable IT Impact Assessment tool that helps organizations with IT decarbonization strategies. Key partners include ABN AMRO, a bank that reduced its IT-generated carbon emissions by nearly 21% in 2025 compared to 2024.
2. IT Services - Decarbonization Guide: Accenture unveiled a Powered for Change 2025 report to help organizations navigate decarbonization strategies.
3. Partner of the Year - Part One: Ingram Micro, the global IT distributor, named ASI Solutions as its APAC Sustainability Leader of the Year for its "holistic approach to embedding sustainability across its business and reducing its environmental footprint," Australia Reseller News reported.

5. Chief Sustainability Officer: Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich has named Professor Ralf Ludwig to the additional position of chief sustainability officer (CSO). Related: List of sustainability executive updates for November 2025
6. Data Center Energy Efficiency: In a successful demonstration, VEIR delivered 3 megawatts of power via a single low voltage cable within a simulated and scalable data center environment. The development could help relieve the power bottleneck facing AI data centers. VEIR raised $75 million in Series B funding in January 2025. Key investors include Munich Re Ventures, Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund, and National Grid.
7. Service Provider: Orange Business remains firmly committed to sustainability goals -- despite some geopolitical pushback worldwide, the company said.
8. Energy Services: Nextracker has rebranded to Nextpower. The move emphasizes Nextpower's focus as a global supplier of fully integrated energy technology solutions and services for for utility-scale solar power plants, the company said.
9. Research - Green Building Challenges: Demand growth for ‘green buildings’ has slowed, while the real estate and construction sectors remain ‘stagnant’ in adopting sustainable practices, a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) report suggested, according to Sustainability Online.
10. Quantum Computing: IBM is "rapidly delivering milestones towards building the world's first large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029," the technology company said. Related: List of quantum computing updates and milestones
11. Lawsuit - OpenAI Loses Round: OpenAI has violated German copyright laws, the Munich Regional Court ruled. GEMA, a German music rights organisation representing more than 100,000 composers, songwriters and publishers, filed the lawsuit against OpenAI in 2024. OpenAI is considering next steps. Lawsuit - New York Times vs OpenAI: The New York Times demanded over 20 million private ChatGPT conversations as part of the copyright infringement lawsuit vs OpenAI, alleging that it might find examples of people using ChatGPT to bypass the New York Times' paywall. 13. Layoffs - Software: Synopsys layoffs will impact 10% of employees or roughly 2,000 staff members. The staff cuts come roughly two years after Synopsys acquired Ansys for $35 billion in January 2024. Ansys develops simulation software that assists customers in such areas as sustainable transportation, advanced semiconductors, satellite systems, medical device development, and energy supply chains. 1. REIT - Data Center Challenges: Fermi America, a data center REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) co-founded by former U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, is running behind on negotiations with its first major tenant, but it’s still on track to start generating power in 2026, MarketWatch reported. Founder Rick Perry previously served in Donald Trump's administration.

1. COP30 - American Executives Lacking: Many American business leaders are skipping the event or attending events in other cities. (Source: The New York Times)

3. United States - Nuclear Energy Bets and Challenges: The Trump administration recently unveiled an $80 billion-plus commitment to help fund new reactors, but hardly anything will be ready to to plug in for a decade, Bloomberg reported.
4. Government - Climate Cost Confusion: Most governments have little idea how much they spend on fighting climate change — or how to cope with its worsening effects, Bloomberg reported.
5. Australia - Net Zero Debate: Australia’s main opposition Liberal Party dropped a commitment to hit net zero emissions by 2050, potentially complicating Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s efforts to win support to host COP31 in 2026, Bloomberg reported.
6. Australia - Net Zero Real Estate Challenges: Australia’s corporate sector has its sights set on net-zero targets, but the offices they occupy are struggling to keep pace, Commercial Real Estate reported. According to research from CBRE, Australia's office market is “not ready for net zero”, with genuine net-zero-ready buildings representing only a small fraction of total stock, the report said.
7. European Union - Watered Down Regulations: European Union lawmakers backed further cuts to CSDDD (corporate sustainability due diligence directive), following months of pressure from companies and some governments demanding the EU weakens its rules, Reuters reported.
8. Germany - Google Data Centers: Google plans to spend €5.5 billion from 2026 through 2029 on infrastructure and offices in Germany, the company said. Google also expanded its 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) partnership with Engie in Germany through 2030. This collaboration, which began in 2021, is now scaling up to contribute to Germany's energy transition and grid stability, Google asserted.
9. Nordics - Data Centers: The Nordics -- Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Iceland -- have quietly demonstrated that sustainability and scalability can coexist when power, policy and planning are aligned, according to DC Byte analyst Charlie Enright.
10. Singapore - Research Findings: Less than two in 10 Singapore businesses prepared for mandatory climate assurance requirements, a PwC Singapore study found.
