1. New Conference: Keep an eye on Sustainability Business Live 2026, a new conference that's set for June 2026 in Melbourne, Australia.
2. Partner Awards: Cisco honored multiple partners that develop sustainability and energy efficiency solutions. The Cisco Partner for Purpose award winners for 2025 include:
- Morgan Solar for Energy Blinds, which are powered and controlled via Cisco PoE networks.
- KIW for Splid.AI, which converts wasted renewable energy into distributed AI compute power.

3. Partnership - AI Data Centers and Renewable Energy: SolarEdge and Infineon are partnering to develop energy efficient technology for AI and hyperscale data centers, the companies said.
4. Partnership - IT Services and Software: IT consulting firm Datacentrix has deployed IBM Envizi ESG Suite for Isuzu Motors South Africa, according to IT News Africa. 5. Partnership - Data Centers and Renewable Energy: As part of a 10-year agreement, Data4's data center sites in Spain will leverage renewable energy from TotalEnergies, the companies said.
6. Software - Supply Chain Emissions Tracking: Fastly has launched a sustainability dashboard to help Australian and New Zealand customers manage supply chain emissions disclosures.
7. Research - Carbon Credit Interest and Adoption: Despite regulatory uncertainty, 40% of organizations already engage in carbon credit activity, using credits to manage climate risk, strengthen supply chain resilience, and create long-term value, according to Schneider Electric research. Looking ahead, 55% plan to increase participation in the voluntary carbon market by 2030. Only 12% report not including carbon credits as part of their strategy, the research said.
8. Research - Green Data Center Market Growth Forecast: The green data center market will reach $267 billion by 2034, up from $70.5 billion in 2024, according to Global Insight Service. 9. IBM Layoffs: IBM layoffs will likely impact thousands of employees as the company shifts its focus towards its high-margin software segment, Reuters reported. We don't know if the cuts will impact IBM's ESG consulting and associated IBM Envizi software business. Related: All sustainability industry layoffs.
B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches
1. M&A - Data Center Services: Salute has acquired Northshore -- a global engineering and consulting firm. Northshore develops Seastack, which uses AI and automation to "advance data center sustainability and optimize facility operations," the companies said. Salute, founded in 2013, is a global data center service provider with roughly 2,200 employees. Northshore, founded in 2018, has operations across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2. M&A - Software and Consulting Services: Position Green, a Nordic ESG software and advisory firm, has acquired Factlines, a provider of supply chain transparency and human rights due diligence solutions. This is Position Green's third acquisition of 2025. The other two involved Greenomy and Morescope. Related: List of carbon accounting software mergers and acquisitions.
3. Earnings - Carbon Accounting Software: Workiva is expected to announce quarterly earnings after the market closes on November 5, 2025. Workiva is a bellwether stock in the carbon accounting software market. Recent reports suggest activist investors could be targeting Workiva in order to improve the company's performance.
4. Accelerators: The Innovate For Tomorrow Impact Accelerator 2025 is seeking submissions focused on waste, resource recovery and smart technology. Dubai Holdings runs the accelerator. Separately, the Challenger Digital and Green Accelerator Programme (Challenger D&G) will support a new generation of entrepreneurs tackling urgent local and global issues such as climate change, food and water security, ecosystem resilience, clean energy transition, green mobility, and waste management. C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News
1. CSRD Pushback Entangles Tech Giants: A group of 16 U.S. State Attorneys General are pushing Microsoft, Google, Meta and other technology giants not to comply with EU regulations such as CSRD and CSDDD, ESG Today reported.
2. EU Climate Target: European Union member states sealed a deal to reduce emissions by 90% through 2040 compared with 1990 levels, a climate win that required some proposals to be watered down. (Source: Bloomberg)
3. Canada - Oil and Gas Policy: The Canadian government signaled it plans to eventually lift the controversial cap on emissions from the oil and gas sector, doubling down instead on its industrial carbon pricing system to rein in pollution, Bloomberg reported.
4. Global Fossil Fuel Policies: At the COP28 climate summit in Dubai two years ago, countries reached a first-of-a-kind agreement to transition their economies away from fossil fuels, Bloomberg notes. Yet none of the roughly 60 countries that have submitted an updated climate pledge since then have put in place targets to reduce oil and gas production or phase out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies, the Bloomberg report said.
