Sustainable IT Services News 03 November 2025: iPhone 17 Right to Repair, Tampa Bay Wave Accelerator, HGGC Buys Inspired

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis for channel partners, MSPs, climate accounting professionals, consultants and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Partnership - IT Services: NEC and e& are partnering to help customers with sustainability initiatives focused on reducing environmental impact, advancing social inclusion, and creating long-term economic value, the two companies said.

2. Partnership - Manufacturing Sector: Capgemini and Siemens have expanded their partnership to promote AI solutions in the manufacturing sector. The resulting solutions will be "more flexible, scalable, resilient, and sustainable," the two companies said.

3. Partnership - Software and Services: Mastek and KarbonWise are partnering to offer customers carbon accounting capabilities and life-cycle emissions assessments, with a focus on Scope 3 emissions across the value chain, the companies said.

4. Smart Phone: The Fairphone 6, an Android phone built with privacy, repairability, and sustainability in mind, is finally available for purchase in the U.S., AndroidCentral reported.

5. iPhone Right to Repair: Apple's Self Service Repair program now includes the new iPhone 17 lineup, NewsBytesApp reported. Related: Apple sustainability strategy and channel partner implications.

6. Field Service Management: Scoop has updated its field service management software to help clean energy firms manage field service operations, reporting and subcontractor coordination

7. Data Center Energy Sources: Exxon Mobil is holding advanced talks with power providers and technology companies to cut the emissions of AI data centers that rely on natural gas by deploying carbon capture technology, CNBC reported.

8. AI Lawsuit Settlement: Universal Music Group and AI song generation platform Udio have settled a copyright infringement lawsuit and agreed to team up on new music creation and streaming platform, the Associated Press reported. Related: Timeline of AI lawsuits, court rulings and judgments.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. M&A - Financial Services: Net Purpose has acquired SDI AOP, an asset owner platform for sustainable development investments. The deal "will create a unified standard to accelerate investing to achieve climate and other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," Net Purpose asserted. Financial terms were not disclosed.

2. M&A - Private Equity and Energy Consulting: Intrepid Bidco, backed by private equity firm HGGC, has acquired Inspired plc, a tech-enabled energy cost management and ESG consulting platform in the United Kingdom. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

3. Accelerator: Tampa Bay Wave has launched the BlueTech|X Accelerator to advance sustainable ocean and coastal solutions. Tampa Bay Wave launched the accelerator in partnership with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and as part of The Continuum, a collaborative network of various accelerator organizations. 4. Clean Tech Rebound: A dramatic rebound in clean-tech stocks has investors in the green economy hoping they can finally turn the page on years of punishing underperformance, Bloomberg reported. The S&P’s main gauge tracking clean energy is up about 50% so far in 2025, the report said.

5. AI Bubble vs. Climate Tech: Investors worried that AI bets look too frothy shouldn’t assume the clean-tech companies powering AI would be trapped in the same bubble, according to a portfolio manager overseeing one of BlackRock's flagship actively managed sustainability funds, Bloomberg reported.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. COP30: Brazil has offered free cruise cabins as poorer nations struggle for rooms at the conference, Reuters reported. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has confirmed that no high-level representatives will attend the conference, The Guardian reported. EU Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra said the US retreat on green commitments will damage the potential for global impact as well as the overall mood at the conference, but that it points to new “partnerships and opportunities” for other nations to forge progress, Bloomberg reported. 2. United States vs European Union: Multiple U.S. associations and organizations are pushing back against the European Union’s (EU) Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). "If CSDDD proceeds with extraterritorial subjugation intact, American businesses could be forced to respond to protect their interests," a letter from U.S. organizations to U.S. government leadership asserted.
