Sustainable Data Center Provider Receives New Funding for Southeast Asia Expansion
August 14, 2025 by Joe Panettieri
Evolution Data Centres, a provider of sustainable IT infrastructure in Southeast Asia, has received new funding to fuel business expansion. Financial figures and valuation terms were not disclosed.
The new investor is Zero Two of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Zero Two, founded in 2022, is "focused on delivering sustainable, scalable, and resilient digital infrastructure across the region and globally, acting as a developer and investor."
Darren Webb, CEO, Evolution Data Centres
Under the terms of the investment, Zero Two gains a "co-controlling position" position in Evolution Data Centres -- alongside Warburg Pincus. Dollar figures for the deal were not disclosed.
Evolution's data center footprint extends across across Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. All of the company's data centers are "powered by renewable energy via Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with leading renewable energy providers," the company asserts. Example partners include Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) of the Philippines and Banpu NEXT in Thailand and Vietnam.
We don't know if the Evolution is striving to be an overall net-zero business, but this PDF summarizes the company's overall data center sustainability strategy.

Data Centers and Sustainable IT Services: Market Headwinds
Numerous data center and cloud service providers (CSPs) worldwide are pursuing sustainable IT strategies. The efforts typically involve renewable energy, power management and monitoring, lower-carbon construction materials, IT asset disposition (ITAD), e-waste reduction, and more.
However, data center operators in 2025 reported limited sustainability advances -- and even some setbacks -- amid AI's massive energy requirements and political headwinds in certain regions, Network World reported based on the Uptime Institute’s 15th Annual Global Data Center Survey.
