1. Chief Sustainability Officer - Boardroom: Delta Airlines Chief Sustainability Officer Pamela Fletcher has joined the Lumentum board of directors. Lumentum develops optical and photonic products enabling optical networking and laser applications worldwide.
2. Chief Sustainability Officer - Real Estate: CBRE Group has hired Robert Bernard as chief sustainability officer and senior VP, Client Sustainability Solutions.
3. M&A - Consulting: ERM, which positions itself as the largest pure play sustainability consultancy, has acquired Coho, a global advisory firm with expertise in helping organizations reach their climate change, renewable energy and water resiliency goals. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
4. M&A - Cloud Software: Climate tech startup Doconomy has acquired Stockholm financial wellbeing fintech Dreams Technology for an undisclosed sum, Tech.Eu reported.
5. AWS Sustainability: Amazon has dismissed claims that a “few departures” from its cloud arm’s sustainability team, coupled with its ongoing hiring freeze, is slowing the company’s progress towards helping its customers curb their carbon emissions, ComputerWeekly reported.
6. IT Consulting - Asia: Tata Consultancy Services and TÜV SÜD PSB have partnered to help Asia Pacific companies in their carbon management and reduction journeys. The effort leverages the TCS Zero Carbon Platform, TCS said.
7. Green Data Center: Hong Kong-based Real estate private equity firm Gaw Capital Partners has formed a joint venture platform with Singapore-based real estate investment platform A3 Capital to invest into greenfield and under-performing data center assets across key markets in the Southeast Asia region, TechNode Global reported.
8. Partnership - Carbon Capture Technology: BP and CarbonFree are partnering to develop carbon capture and utilization projects with CarbonFree’s SkyCycle technology. SkyCycle is a modular technology and captures and utilizes CO2 emissions from hard-to-abate industrial production by converting the carbon dioxide into specialty chemicals that can be used to manufacture paper, plastics, ceramics and more. BP's venture capital arm is a CarbonFree investor.
9. Financing - Battery Recycling: The U.S. Energy Department will lend Li-Cycle Holdings Corp. $375 million as it builds a battery recycling facility in New York set to become one of the country's largest sources of lithium by 2024, Reuters said.
10. Italy: The country is in talks with European Union authorities to secure at least 6 billion euros ($6.33 billion) under the so-called REPowerEU plan to completely wean itself off Russian gas and boost efforts to make its economy more green, Reuters reported.
