A. Sustainable Technology, Talent, Partnerships and Green IT Alliances

1. Chief Sustainability Officers: Newly announced CSOs include...

2. Compliance and ESG Software - Workiva Earnings: The company revenue of $166.65 million in Q4 of 2023, up 15.9% from Q4 of 2022. The results generally beat Wall Street's expectations.

3. Partnership - IT Consulting and AI Software: Wipro has launched a generative AI platform that leverages IBM watsonx. The goal is to "make AI consumption as efficient, agile, reliable, and sustainable as possible—ultimately, helping advance the adoption of enterprise-level AI,” a Wipro executive said.

4. Partnership - Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations: AcBel will begin to co-design hardware for ChargePoint’s portfolio of EV charging solutions -- "bringing products to market faster and at a lower cost, while maintaining ChargePoint’s high quality and reliability standards," the two companies said. The partnership surfaced one month after ChargePoint announced layoffs in January 2024, along with ChargePoint CEO and CFO changes in November 2023.

5. Executive Leadership - Solar Power: Former SunPower CEO Tom Werner has rejoined the solar company as executive chairman of the board. The move surfaced roughly one month after SunPower announced a restructuring plan and various operating cost cuts in January 2024.

6. Solar Equipment - SolarEdge Earnings: The company reported revenues of $316.0 million in Q4 of 2023, down 65% from the corresponding quarter in Q4 of 2022. GAAP net loss per share was $2.85. The revenues were roughly $9 million below Wall Street's expectations, SeekingAlpha reported.

5. Potential AI Lawsuit: A regional Australian mayor said he may sue OpenAI if it does not correct ChatGPT's false claims that he had served time in prison for bribery, in what would be the first defamation lawsuit against the automated text service, Reuters reported. Brian Hood, who was elected mayor of Hepburn Shire, 120km (75 miles) northwest of Melbourne in November 2023, the report said.

B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches

1. Accelerator: Hyundai's Zero1NE starup accelerator is seeking applications through March 10, 2024.

2. M&A - Recycling: LyondellBasell has acquired various mechanical recycling assets from PreZero, a global recycling and waste management service provider. The transaction includes leasing the processing facility in Jurupa Valley, Calif., which has a production capacity of approximately 50 million pounds per year for recycled materials, the buyer said. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News

1. Europe - FinTech: CRIF, a provider of consumer and business credit information, introduced a data repository and scoring service. The service enables banks to "efficiently evaluate the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) profile of their UK and EU-based suppliers, partners, and customer portfolio," FinTech Global reported.

2. Australia - Regulations: The Australian Treasury announced a consultation into proposed rules on climate-related financial disclosure, which will align with the International Sustainability Standards Board (“ISSB”) recommendations, The National Law Review reported.
