1. Training: IBM SkillsBuild has launched free educational courses focused on sustainability. The courses, IBM said, include:
- Introductory courses will help establish a foundation with historical insights and fundamentals to connect sustainability and technology.
- Mid-level offerings in design thinking and green entrepreneurship will encourage learners to grow their skills.
- Advanced coursework will ask learners to apply their skills to sustainability topics across AI, cybersecurity, and ESG reporting.

2. Research: Only one-fifth of companies on track to meet their net zero goals, Accenture research found.
3. Research - Building Automation System Market Forecast: The building automation system market is expected to reach $155.9 billion by 2028 from $88.4 billion in 2023. That's a 12.0% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), according to MarketsandMarkets.
4. Home EV Charging: Qmerit, an installer of home and business EV chargers and other clean energy technologies, is now harnessing a trained proprietary AI model to "substantially streamline and speed the process of bringing EV charging, battery storage, and other clean energy systems to single and multifamily residences," the company said.
5. Partnership - Smart Home Managed Services: Smart home service provider Vivint will offer Torus energy storage and management solutions to clientele in Utah, the two companies said.
6. Smart Building Demos: Johnson Controls has opened an OpenBlue Innovation Center in Glendale, Wisconsin. The center allows building owners, operators and partners to experience Johnson Controls' sustainability solutions.
7. Partnership - AI and Cloud Services: DarkByte and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) are partnering to to roll out AI cloud services powered by renewable energy such as solar, batteries, hydro, and nanotech, the companies said. The relationship leverages HPE Cray XD supercomputers, featuring NVIDIA H100 GPUs, to "provide the scale and performance required to support compute-intensive workloads such as AI, machine learning, and modeling and simulation workloads."
8. Partnership - Consulting and ESG Software: ERM and Sweep are partnering to "help businesses develop and implement robust data-driven climate and ESG strategies."
9. Partnership - Logistics: Warehouse software provider Lucas Systems and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) are partnering on research to tackle logistics industry packaging and sustainability challenges.
10. Partnership - Autonomous Vehicles: Helixx and Conigital have partnered to develop a next-generation bi-directional autonomous vehicle (AV), the two companies said.
11. Partnership - Energy Management for EV Buses and Trucks: Synop and The Lion Electric Company are partnering on the electric vehicle (EV) market. The details: Synop’s vehicle, charging, and energy management solutions will be integrated with LionBeat, a telematics offering, and additionally available as an add-on solution for non-LionBeat subscribers. The results: Customers will gain a single interface to manage their school bus and truck assets.
12. Energy and Water Management: Itron has joined the Green Button Alliance (GBA) as a Participating Member. GBA is a non-profit and U.S.-based organization that fosters the development, compliance and widespread adoption of the Green Button energy and water data-access and -sharing protocol.
13. 5G and Net Zero: TDC NET, a Danish infrastructure provider, will leverage Ericsson's 5G technology as part of a plan to reach Net Zero targets.
14. Renewable Energy - Software: GE Vernova’s Digital business has released Fleet Orchestration, a software solution designed to help power utilities successfully maximize the use of renewable energy.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. Financing: Tenet Energy, which provides financing for electric vehicles (EVs), has raised $30 million. The sum includes $10 million in Series A funding and a $20 million warehouse debt facility.
2. Funding - Carbon Removal and Storage: Rewind has raised $5 million in seed funding, "bolstering its efforts to deploy measurable, sustainable, permanent and scalable carbon dioxide removal," the company said.

1. COP28: NEC CEO Takayuki Morita will give a keynote speech on December 2 to introduce NEC's environmental initiatives. The keynote's theme will be "Accelerating Adaptation Measures by Using Digital Technology to Implement Adaptation Finance in Society." It will also feature a panel discussion with global environmental experts.
2. United Kingdom - Wind Power Investments: The UK government raised the support price for new offshore wind farms by 66% as it tries to rekindle investment in a crisis-hit sector crucial to its climate goals, Bloomberg reported.
