SolarEdge Turnaround Touts Channel Partnerships, Distribution, EV Charging Managed Services Software

August 12, 2025 by Joe Panettieri

Amid a major business turnaround effort, SolarEdge executives emphasized channel partnerships, distribution relationships, managed services software for EV charger networks, and diversified revenue streams during the company's August 2025 earnings call with Wall Street analysts.

First, the big picture: SolarEdge, founded in 2006, is based in Herzliya, Israel. The business provides "full system" solutions, combining inverters, optimizers, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, storage systems and energy management software, CFO Asaf Alperovitz mentioned during the company's August 7 earnings call. The SolarEdge partner program includes numerous distributors.

SolarEdge has faced multiple business challenges in recent years. Allegations of channel stuffing surfaced in 2023. Multiple rounds of layoffs started in 2024 and extended into January 2025. And throughout 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff and renewable energy policies have pressured portions of the solar energy technology market.

Channel Partners Assist SolarEge Turn Around Progress

Still, SolarEdge is making progress on a "turnaround journey," CEO Shuki Nir said during the August 2025 earnings call. Among the anecdotes to note from Q2 of 2025:

  • Revenue was $289.4 million, up 32% from $219.5 million in the prior quarter.
  • GAAP net loss was $124.7 million, compared to $98.5 million in the prior quarter.
  • Amid President Trump's international tariff wars, SolarEdge continues to scale manufacturing capacity in the United States.

Describing progress on the channel front, Nir said: "Our pricing and promotion campaigns have shown signs of success and our improved go-to-market strategy is strengthening our partnerships with installers and distributors. As a result, the majority of our distribution partners reached normalized inventory levels at the end of Q2 2025 as we had anticipated."

Translation: SolarEdge's channel is no longer stuffed.

Wevo: Managed Services Software for EV Charger Networks

Among the key partnerships to note: Schaeffler, an automotive and industrial supplier, plans to deploy 2,300 EV charger points in Europe. The project will integrate hardware and SolarEdge’s EV charging software capabilities into Schaeffler’s infrastructure. The software involves Wevo Energy, a managed services software platform for EV charger systems that SolarEdge acquired in April 2024.

"Under the partnership, Wevo will manage the thousands of charge points that Schaeffler intends to deploy at its facilities around the world," Nir asserted.

In many ways, Wevo could emerge as an a software platform that allows third-party MSPs (managed IT service providers) to manage multiple EV charger networks for customers. Much like traditional RMM (remote monitoring and management) and PSA (professional services automation) software for MSPs, the Wevo platform supports:

  • operations and management;
  • pricing and billing management;
  • user and partner management; and
  • white label services.

But instead of managing IT infrastructure, Wevo's software oversees EV charger networks for end-customers. Key adopters include PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric Company) to manage its nearly 4,000 EV chargers; and a public charging station in New York that's backed by ConEd, Nir mentioned.

Next Up: SolarEdge Nexis Platform at RE+ 2025 Conference

Looking ahead, SolarEdge is striving to deliver its next-generation residential platform -- called Nexis -- by the end of 2025. More company updates are expected at RE+ 2025 -- a major renewable energy conference scheduled for September 8-11 in Las Vegas.

Concluded Nir: "We already have several operative [Nexis] units in our facilities, and next month at RE+ we will have a hands-on experience for installers to demonstrate how flexible and easy Nexis is to install, connecting inverters and batteries with a simple click."

We'll be watching and listening for more updates at the conference.
