Amid worldwide concerns about generative AI's lofty energy requirements, Seeweb has launched Regolo.ai -- an AI inference platform designed to simplify eco-friendly AI development globally.
Seeweb, founded in 1998, is based in Frosinone, Latium -- in Italy's Lazio region. The company has 44 employees listed on LinkedIn as of August 2025. We don't know how many of those employees are focused on the Regolo.ai effort.
Seeweb and the Regolo.ai effort focus heavily on sustainable AI strategies. The company believes that "it’s possible to develop powerful AI technologies without compromising the planet’s balance. Our commitment is to keep innovating, improving, and transparently measuring every environmental aspect of our service."
How Much Energy Does Generative AI Consume?
The Regolo.ai effort comes amid questions and concerns about generative AI's energy requirements.
- On average, a generative AI query involving ChatGPT needs nearly 10 times as much electricity to process compared to a Google search, Goldman Sachs asserts.
- As AI application demand and associated AI workloads surge, data center power demand will grow 160% by 2030 compared to 2023 or so, Goldman Sachs added.
Amid that backdrop, some customers and channel partners are seeking data center partners that understand green software development techniques.
In response, major cloud service providers (CSPs) -- including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud -- and boutique data center providers increasingly leverage renewable energy. Moreover, CSPs and data center companies increasingly promote energy monitoring and optimization services; green coding practices; and workload optimization software.
Seeweb and Regolo.ai: Sustainable AI Application Development?
Still, sustainable IT services often get lost in the AI market noise. Seeweb wants to change that. The company asserts: "Regolo.ai is revolutionizing how AI applications are built and deployed. It offers a scalable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional AI infrastructure." Moreover, Regolo.ai leverages 100% renewable energy, essentially "enabling powerful AI applications with a reduced environmental impact."
In a prepared statement about the Regolo.ai launch, Marco Cristofanilli (pictured, top of page), head of artificial intelligence cloud at Seeweb, stated: “We believe in the power of open AI models to transform industries and unlock new possibilities. By providing a platform that is both open and secure, we enable the next generation of AI applications to be built faster, more efficiently, and with greater environmental responsibility.”
The launch announcement did not mention Regolo.ai's pricing.
Seeweb Engages Business Partners and Resellers
Seeweb has a partner program for business partners and reseller partners. We're checking to see if the partner program extends to the Regolo.ai effort.
