ASM Global has hired Lindsay Arell (pictured above) as chief sustainability officer, the newly appointed CSO has confirmed to Sustainable Tech Partner.
Here are three things to know about ASM Global and Arell's sustainability expertise.
1. Business Scope and Scale: ASM Global was formed in2019 from the merger of AEG Facilities and SMG. Key financial backers include private equity firm Onex. The resulting business, ASM Global, produces over 20,000 live events annually, which attract over 164 million guests each year. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with key operations in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania -- a suburb of Philadelphia.
On the sustainability front, the company promotes ASM Global ACTS -- a commitment to social equity and global sustainability. The initiative spans "a robust and growing DE&I initiative, commitment to local purchasing, and prioritizing green innovations," the organization asserts.
2. Lindsay Arell's Experience: Arell is well-known for her work at Honeycomb Strategies, a sustainability consulting firm focused on hospitality, sports, and events organizations. Before joining ASM Global as CSO, she led the development of ASM Global ACTS sustainability plan. Key milestones in her career journey include ISO 20121 certifications for Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Arell also launched the Sustainable Sport Index, a global benchmarking project on the impacts of teams, leagues, and venues, according to her bio.
3. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement, ASM Global CEO and President Ron Bension said: "As ASM looks to continue its leadership and commitment to sustainability. Lindsay who is known throughout our industry as a thought leader is the perfect person to assume this role.”
Added Arell: “I’m thrilled at the chance to spearhead ASM’s sustainability initiatives working alongside our teams and communities across our over 400 global venues. By providing our venue teams with the necessary knowledge and resources, we can accelerate the progress of our program significantly.”
Event Venues and Sustainability: Why Technology Partners Should Care
By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.
The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO customer needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
