M&A: Accenture Acquires Insight Sourcing; Gains Energy Procurement and Management Business

Accenture is acquiring Insight Sourcing, a provider of strategic sourcing and procurement services -- particularly for private equity customers. The deal also includes Insight Energy -- an energy procurement and management business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Accenture Acquires Insight Sourcing: Business Background, Energy Management Capabilities

Insight Sourcing, founded in 2002, has roughly 220 sourcing consultants and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The company helps its customers to optimize costs when sourcing and negotiating contracts for:

  • Direct materials (e.g., metals, electronics, food ingredients, chemicals, clinical services);
  • indirect materials (e.g., logistics, packaging, IT, marketing);
  • services related to capital expenditures (e.g., construction, facility equipment); and
  • energy procurement management, the buyer said.

Energy Management Focus: The related Insight Energy business helps customers to "manage energy costs, identify and implement conservation opportunities, and procure cleaner energy supplies." The business has managed more than 6,500 energy sourcing projects. Moreover, Insight Energy can connect customers with more than 400 renewable energy developers, the company's says.

Accenture, based in Dublin, Ireland, has roughly 733,000 employees. The company's focus spans IT consulting, managed IT services, sustainability services and dozens of additional capabilities.

Accenture: Multiple Sourcing and Supply Chain Management Acquisitions

Accenture typically acquires dozens of companies each fiscal year. On the sourcing and supply chain management front, recent acquisitions include New York-based advisory firm Impendi (January 2024) and The Shelby Group (November 2023).
