Circular Integrity's expertise spans IT asset lifecycle management, secondary market positioning, and ESG-driven procurement strategies.
2. Building Energy Management - Case Study: Dollar Tree, the discount retail giant, saved $1 million in electricity costs and other expenses after embracing BrainBox AI's building energy management (BEM) platform. The solution applies cloud-based analytics to optimize HVAC systems. Trane Technologies announced plans to acquire BrainBox AI in December 2024. The Dollar Tree case study comes at a key time. Indeed, some building energy management and sustainability companies have stumbled badly after making lofty customer promises. Key examples include BlocPower, which abandoned various customer engagements amid former CEO Donnel Baird's surprise departure in 2024.
3. Schneider Electric Financial Results: Schneider Electric delivered record annual revenue in fiscal year 2024, and the company emphasized sustainability in its annual financial report.
4. Microsoft Quantum Computing: Microsoft has unveiled Majorana 1, a quantum chip designed to power quantum computers that solve "meaningful, industrial-scale problems in years, not decades," the cloud services and software giant said. Majorana 1 surfaced roughly two months after Google unveiled the Willow chip development. Major cloud service providers and IT infrastructure companies believe quantum computing may help to solve complex medical, health care, chemistry and climate challenges.
B. Sustainability M&A, Climate Tech Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. M&A - ITAD and Leasing Services: 3StepIT has acquired LeaseCloud, which develops an IT equipment subscription platform for SMB customers. LeaseCloud's platform integrates with hardware distributors and vendors’ portals, providing SMBs with access to leasing as a payment method for B2B e-commerce, 3StepIT said. The service is rolling out in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. Financial terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed. 3stepIT, a provider of IT asset disposition (ITAD) and circular technology services, also is expanding from Europe to North America, and sharpening its AI data center focus. 1. United States - New York IT Audit: New York's Office of IT Services lost track of 17,887 devices, including desktops and laptops meant for state agencies, resulting in “overspending and government waste,” according to an audit performed by New York's comptroller's, StateScoop reported.
2. European Union - CSRD Policy Debate: The European Union's biggest economies are split over whether the bloc should weaken its CSRD sustainability reporting rules for companies, with Spain and Italy defending some rules that Germany and France want to delay, Reuters reported.
3. United Kingdom - Financial Services: Keep an eye on the Transition Finance Council, a London-based group backed by baking executives. The goal: Rally the City of London, companies and policymakers to scale funding for decarbonization efforts at home and abroad, Bloomberg reported.
