1. Talent: Imperative, a carbon project development company, has hired John Nagulendran as chief growth & investment officer.
2. Talent: ConocoPhillips will promote Andy O’Brien to succeed W.L. (Bill) Bullock as chief financial officer (CFO) in June 2025. O'Brien will also retain responsibility for strategy, commercial and sustainability. Bullock is set to retire from the energy company.
3. Virtual Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) Services: ESG Strategy has unveiled a Virtual Chief Sustainability Officer (vCSO) service, bringing "elite-level sustainability expertise to businesses of all sizes," the company asserted.
4. OpenAI and Microsoft - Revenue Share?: OpenAI will share 10% of its revenue with Microsoft in 2030 and beyond, down from 10% at present, The Information reported.
B. Sustainability M&A, Climate Tech Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. M&A - Energy Consulting Services: Environ Energy has acquired Rapid Power Management (RPM), an energy consulting firm in Texas. The acquisition "enhances Environ’s ability to deliver commercial energy procurement, energy efficiency, sustainability, and engineering services to a broader national audience," the buyer said. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2. M&A - Consulting: BPA has acquired Ecovert and EcovertCx. The acquisitions boost BPA's sustainable building expertise in Ontario, Canada. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
3. Private Equity Fund: Power Sustainable has raised over US$330 million for a private equity fund focused on middle-market decarbonization companies. Target investments will involve North American companies.
C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News
1. United States - EV Tax Credit Cancelled?: Republicans in the US House are more likely than not to kill a consumer tax credit for electric vehicles, Bloomberg reported.
2. United States - Portland, Oregon: The city has formed its inaugural Sustainability and Climate Commission (SCC). The 20-member commission will :guide and champion the City’s climate goals."
3. United Kingdom - Clean Energy Challenges: The UK’s goal of having a clean power grid by 2030 is looking even more difficult to achieve after Denmark’s Orsted A/S canceled plans to build a massive wind farm in the North Sea, Bloomberg reported.
4. European Union - CSRD Changes?: A political push to pare back EU sustainability regulations must not mean losing information on material risks or force investors to rely more heavily on third-party data providers, Reuters reported.
