1. Financial Services - Another HSBC Executive Exit: Erin Leonard, global head of sustainability for HSBC Asset Management, is exiting the financial services firm, Reuters reported. Multiple sustainability executives have exited HSBC amid the company's shifting ESG priorities.
2. Talent - Real Estate Services: Measurabl, which develops a sustainability data management platform for real estate, has hired SunPower and Amazon veteran Kumar Brahnmath as chief product & technology officer (CPTO).
3. IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) - Company Growth: Mender has made the Inc. 5000 list for the first time. The company ranks 127 on the 2025 Inc. 5000 Regionals: Southwest list. Mender has generated 34% growth for two years ending in 2023. The regional list ranks private companies based in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona.
4. Carbon Reporting Software: Workiva provided an upbeat quarterly earnings report on May 1, but company executives didn't mention specific sales figures or customer wins involving the Workiva Carbon software platform. During previous earnings call, Workiva spent considerable time describing how and why the platform was gaining market momentum.
5. EV Charging Infrastructure - Managed Services: Siemens has launched Depot360 Home Charging Reimbursement in the United States. The managed service, compatible with all chargers and electric vehicles (EVs), allows fleet operators to "accurately reimburse drivers for home charging sessions while significantly reducing capital investments and operational costs," Siemens said.
6. Partnership - Apple and Anthropic: Apple and Anthropic are partnering to develop a new “vibe-coding” software platform that will use AI to write, edit and test code on behalf of programmers, Bloomberg reported.
7. Milestone - Web Hosting: GreenGeeks, an eco-friendly web hosting provider, has purchased 45,197 Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) -- which represents 45,197,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy matched to its energy usage since 2009.
B. Sustainability M&A, Climate Tech Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. M&A - Supply Chain Services: Blue Yonder has acquired Pledge Earth Technologies Ltd., which includes a global supply chain sustainability solution for beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), enterprise supply chain leaders and logistics service providers (LSPs). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2. M&A - Mobile Charging Solutions: Brick Technology AB has acquired LaadMaar B.V. -- a provider of Pluggo mobile charging services for festivals across the Netherlands and Belgium. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. This is Brick's second acquisition in the past year or so. The other deal, from July 2024, involved buying Volt ApS for 2.5 million Euro.
3. Joint Venture - IT Asset Disposition (ITAD): Schupan and Sons and Valley City Electronic Recycling (VCER) -- both of Michigan -- have formed a joint venture called Schupan Electronics Recycling. The joint venture expands the companies’ electronics recycling and ITAD capabilities.
4. Solar Bankruptcy?: Sunnova Energy International, one of the largest solar-panel installation companies in the United States, is preparing to file for bankruptcy within weeks following struggles with an $8.5 billion debt load and waning liquidity, The Wall Street Journal reported.

1. Europe - Climate Startup Funding Needs: With the United States stepping away from the fight against climate change, Europe needs to double down on investing in climate-friendly startups, said Agate Freimane, a general partner at venture capital firm Norrsken VC, according to Bloomberg.
