1. Chief Sustainability Officers (CSOs) List:Â Our database of chief sustainability officers now tracks 304 CSOs.
2. New Chief Sustainability Officer: Casper Vroemen will succeed Gregory Yep as chief R&D and sustainability officer at IFF, which specializes in food, beverage, scent, health and biosciences technology. Yep resigned to pursue a new opportunity. The transition will be effective September 1, 2023.
3. Executive Leadership - CSO's New Role: Keurig Dr. Pepper has named SVP and Chief Sustainability Officer Monique Oxender to to interim chief corporate affairs officer.
4. Executive Leadership - Honeywell: Microsoft veteran Anant Maheshwari has been named president and CEO of Honeywell’s High Growth Region portfolio, effective September 4, 2023. He will succeed Ben Driggs, who will shift to another leadership role in the company. Maheshwari will be located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In his new role, Maheshwari will lead business growth across Honeywell’s geographies in China, India, Southeast Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa and Latin America. He previously had leadership roles at Honeywell from 2004 to 2016. Maheshwari joins Honeywell from Microsoft, where he served as President and CEO of Microsoft India.
5. CEO Transition: Nikola, which strives to develop zero-emissions transportation solutions, has named Steve Girsky to succeed Michael Lohscheller as CEO. Lohscheller stepped down to focus on a family health matter.
6. E-Waste Reduction - Mobile Devices: Uswitch.com, the UK-based price comparison service and switching website, has partnered with sustainable startup, Raylo, to enable consumers to lease mobile devices and reduce electronic waste, The FinTech Times reported.
7. Siemens - Wind Turbine Issue: Siemens Energy said problems recently unveiled at its wind turbine unit would cost it 2.2 billion euros ($2.4 billion), well short of worst-case estimates but still casting doubt over the future of the business, Reuters reported.
8. LK-99 Superconductor - Real or Hoax?: If LK-99 is the real deal, it could be a game-changer for everything from quantum computing and medical imaging to energy and transportation, The Verge notes. But there are a lot of red flags, the report said.
