February 28 - Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Shuttering? The CFPB's leadership, appointed by the Trump administration, plans to fire nearly all its 1,700 employees while “winding down” the agency, CNBC reported.

February 27 - More DOGE Power: Trump signed an executive order giving more power to DOGE to review and slash federal spending, SeekingAlpha reported.

February 27 - DOGE: Politicians, lawsuits and a judicial order are pushing DOGE to become more transparent, NBC News reported. In fact, a lawsuit seeks to force DOGE to follow the transparency rules that apply to much of the government, the report said.

Some media reports suggest Musk has faced pushback from certain Cabinet members, some of whom objected to Musk's s demand that federal employees justify their jobs via email.

February 25 - IT Staff Resignations: Twenty-one federal IT employees resigned from DOGE, essentially protesting DOGE's alleged efforts to dismantle critical public services, multiple media reports said.

February 25 - Court Hearing: A federal judge pressed the Trump administration on who exactly runs DOGE, and said she had “concerns” the group may be operating in an unconstitutional manner, Politico reported. Still, the judge stopped short of issuing a ruling.

February 25 - Cost-Savings Math: Nearly 40% of the federal contracts that the Trump administration claims to have canceled as part of its signature cost-cutting program aren’t expected to save the government any money, the Associated Press reported.

February 25 - Florida: Florida is prepping a state-level DOGE task force that will likely review local, city and county budgets; and audit of every state college and university, a local NBC affiliate reported.
