Sustainable IT Services News for Channel Partners and MSPs: 09 October 2025

Here is today's sustainable IT services news, research and analysis for channel partners, MSPs, climate accounting professionals, and the chief sustainability officers (CSOs) they serve.

A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Partnership - IT Hardware and Carbon Data: Lenovo has partnered with carbon data specialist Rejoose. The move enables customers and channel partners to consider carbon impact data when purchasing Lenovo products, the companies said.

2. Partnership - Food and Beverage Sector: 51toCarbonZero and HowGood to boost Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting in the food and beverage sector.

3. Data Center Energy Efficiency: Delta Electronics demonstrated energy-efficient power, cooling, and infrastructure solutions at the Data Centre World Asia 2025 conference.

4. Data Centers and Nuclear Power: Google wants to develop six data centers in Iowa, and the effort could involve restarting Duane Arnold Energy Center -- a decommissioned nuclear reactor. Related: Google sustainability strategy and nuclear powered data center updates.

5. Big Tech and Renewable Power: Microsoft warned that it is competing for limited supplies of clean electricity in parts of East Asia, even as its window to achieve a key 2030 climate target narrows, Bloomberg reported. Related: Microsoft sustainability strategy and partner implications.

6. Research - Digital Circular Economy Market Growth Forecast: The United States digital circular economy will reach $13.84 billion by 2032, up from $2.34 billion in 2024. That's a 24.88% compound annual growth rate, according to DataM Intelligence. The market encompasses technologies and platforms that enable sustainable resource management by integrating digital tools like IoT, AI, and blockchain. 7. Solar Equipment Recycling: The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has launched SolarRecycle.org to connect solar companies with recycling partners. 

8. Layoffs - Offshore Wind Power:  Denmark's Orsted will cut 2,000 jobs by the end of 2027, a quarter of its workforce, Reuters reported. The cuts come amid President Trump's aggressive pushback against offshore wind technology. Orsted's U.S.-based projects have therefore faced numerous headwinds. B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. Funding - Data Center Energy Efficiency: Phaidra has raised more than $50 million in Series B funding led by Collaborative Fund. Nvidia participated in the round. Phaidra develops AI software agents that help to improve infrastructure efficiency, reliability and sustainability.

2. M&A - Software: One Click LCA acquired Pre Sustainability -- developer of the SimaPro software platform. Stockalper advised the seller on the deal. Related: All carbon accounting software M&A deals.

3. Startups to Watch: During a Paradigm meeting in Brussels, three startups described their sustainability solutions. They included:

  • Citronics, which develops microcomputers from reprogrammed Fairphone 2 motherboards at the end of their life cycle;
  • Dimeritium, developer of the  Sunflower circular cloud; and
  • Levy, promoter of a sustainable cloud platform based on low-energy urban data centers.

4. Target Investments: Apollo Global Management is scouring Spain for potential energy transition, data center and infrastructure investments, Bloomberg reported.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. United States - Solar Grants Lawsuit: Nonprofit groups, companies and unions are suing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) after the Trump Administration cancelled $7 billion worth of solar grants, Impakter reported.

2. European Union - CSRD Changes: Lawmakers plan to make deeper cuts to the EU's corporate sustainability law, Reuters reported. The scale back involves the corporate sustainability due diligence directive (CSDDD). Among the shifts: Delaying CSRD sustainability reporting standards for non-EU companies, ESG Today reported.

3. UAE (United Arab Emirates) - Partnership: Moro Hub and Univers have partnered to deploy sustainable IT services that "strengthen renewable energy, storage, electrification, and commercial and industrial (C&I) energy management." Univers specializes in AI and IoT services for renewable energy. Moro Hub is is a data center, cloud services and MSP firm.
