1. Energy Storage Management: Torus has installed its energy storage and management system at Trolley Lane, an affordable housing complex in Salt Lake City. Torus installations "reduce energy costs and improve efficiency for businesses while contributing to the broader Torus Community energy-sharing network," the company said.
2. Managed Services - EV Charging Networks: Siemens will launch its Depot360 portfolio to the German market at the IAA Transportation 2024 conference in Hanover, Germany, Motor India reported. Depot360 is an EV charging portfolio that includes cloud-based software, managed services, consultation, financing, depot design, construction, commissioning, and operations management. Depot360 is already available in the US, Canada, France, the UK, and Norway.
3. Layoffs - IT Solutions: IBM has been laying off a substantial number of employees this week and is trying to keep it quiet, The Register reported. We don't know if the job cuts involved IBM's sustainability and ESG software teams. The company expects to exit 2024 with headcount figures that are roughly equal to 2023, the report said.
4. Layoffs - Solar Energy: Meyer Burger layoffs will impact nearly 20% of its global workforce, and CEO Gunter Erfurt has exited the business, Reuters reported. The Swiss solar panel is battling cheaper imports from China, the report noted.
5. Research - Global Solar Infrastructure Deployment Forecast: Solar capacity around the world will be installed at a record pace in 2024, Ember research found, as bargain panel prices help countries’ efforts to deploy cleaner energy, Bloomberg reported.

1. M&A - Wind Energy: SUSI Partners plans to acquire a 39 MW Dam Nai wind farm located in the Vietnam province of Ninh Thuáºn. The seller is renewable energy investor Scatec ASA of Norway, TechNode reported.

1. Cop 29 - Central Asia Energy Transition Investments: The first Energy Transition Investment Forum for Central Asia will be hosted in Baku, Azerbaijan, on November 15-26, 2024. Details emerged from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), COP29 Presidency and Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.
2. COP28 - Progress Concerns: Weak demand for green products is curbing investment of up to $700 billion in low-carbon projects in heavy-emitting industries such as aluminum, steel and cement, COP28 participants said, and Reuters reported.
3. United States - Green Bond Challenges: Almost all green bonds issued in the United States fail to drive real action to tackle climate change, undermining the merits of a global market that’s grown to more than $3 trillion, Bloomberg reported.
4. Canada - Carbon Emissions Decline: Canada's carbon emissions declined slightly in 2023 compared to 2022, Reuters reported, but need to fall much faster to meet Ottawa's 2030 climate target, the Canadian Climate Institute think-tank said.
5. United Kingdom - Renewable Energy: Running hours of gas-fired power plants in the UK are at the lowest since at least 2017, Kilowatts.io reported, as wind, solar and imports from Norway and France flood the grid, Bloomberg said.
