Apple Grid Forecast Software Helps Consumers Leverage Renewable Energy

As part of a larger Apple 2030 strategy for carbon neutrality, the technology giant launched Grid Forecast software -- which helps consumers to leverage clean or lower-carbon energy sources when available.

Among the potential benefits: Apple says Grid Forecast will help consumers to determine the best time to run large appliances and charge electric vehicles or devices throughout the day.

The software is available in the Home app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch for users in the contiguous United States.

The Apple software surfaces the same day that carbon neutral Apple Watches emerged.

Also of note: Samsung recently added AI features that can automate some energy-saving features and integrate with the Electricity Maps service to show real-time information about your energy sources and their carbon intensity, helping users to better manage their carbon footprints, The Verge reported.
