ESG, EHS Software Provider EcoOnline Names New CEO

August 22, 2023 by Joe Panettieri

EcoOnline, a developer of EHS (employee health and safety) and ESG software, has hired former Calabrio executive Tom Goodmanson as CEO.

We believe Goodmanson succeeds former EcoOnline CEO Göran Lindö, who exited the company in April 2023, according to Lindö's LinkedIn profile. But we're double-checking to see if Lindö was EcoOnline's most recent CEO.

Software Mergers, Acquisitions and Business History

Goodmanson joins the business at a key time for the software company and its partner ecosystem. The background: EcoOnline, backed by private equity firm Apax Partners, acquired ESG software provider Ecometrica in July 2023, and Alcumus' EHS software business in January 2023. Ahead of those deals, EcoOnline had executed 11 acquisitions in four years.

Fast forward to August 2023. EcoOnline's partner program webpage promotes EHS software, and EcoMetrica engages ESG partners. We did not notice a partner-centric section on the Alcumus website. We'll be watching to see if or how EcoMetrica begins to coordinate those partner initiatives.

Goodmanson certainly has experience building and scaling software companies. During his time at Calabrio (2008 to January 2023), he grew the business from 30 employees to 700+ people and a $1 billion-plus valuation, according to EcoOnline.

Goodmanson also has experience working with private equity investors. For instance, private equity firm Thoma Bravo acquired Calabrio from KKR in 2021. Financial terms of that deal were not disclosed.
