A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Channel Chief: Measurabl, which develops a sustainability data platform for real estate, has hired Energy Star veteran Mike Zatz as senior VP of global data ecosystem and partnerships. Zatz will "engage partners to create a global platform, built around Measurabl's Free Solution, [to] provide trusted sustainability data accessible to the entire real estate ecosystem," the company said.

2. Climate Accounting Software and AI: Greenly has launched EcoPilot, an AI copilot platform that assists customers with "every stage in climate policy, from data collection to action plan formulation," the company said.

3. Partnership - AI Data Centers: Nscale is working with Microsoft and Dell Technologies to expand Nvidia GPU deployments across Europe and the United States.  Nscale, an AI data center provider that blends sustainability and managed services, raised $1.1 billion in Series B funding in September 2025. Dell and Nvidia participated in the round, among others.

4. Research - Net Zero Disconnect: Only 11% of sustainability leaders believe their organization will meet its carbon reduction targets, according to Leafr research.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. M&A Rumor - Data Centers: Several major investment firms and technology companies are set to acquire Aligned Data Centers from Macquarie Asset Management for about $40 billion, the Financial Times reported. The investor consortium includes BlackRock, MGX, Nvidia, Microsoft and xAI. Rumors about the potential Aligned Data Centers asset sale surfaced in early October 2026. On a related note, Microsoft plans to rent data center capacity from Nscale in a new facility in Portugal powered by Nvidia chips, according to Bloomberg.

2. M&A - AI Data Centers: Glesys, a Nordic provider of cloud and IaaS services, plans to acquire Verne’s managed private cloud operations in Finland, including data center facilities in Pori and Tampere. Glesys positions itself as a sustainable AI data center provider.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. Global Carbon Emissions: Carbon-dioxide emissions from human activities and wildfires rose by an unprecedented amount in 2024, while the land and oceans’ ability to absorb carbon diminished, according to the World Meteorological Organization, Bloomberg reported.

2. Global Renewable Energy Growth: A record amount of renewable energy capacity was added globally in 2024, but that still left countries short of targets towards meeting a U.N. climate goal to triple capacity by 2030, a report by global renewable groups showed, Reuters reported.

3. United States - Nuclear Energy Test: Last Energy Inc. plans to test its pilot microreactor at Texas A&M University as the race for small modular reactors heats up amid growing energy demand for AI data centers, Bloomberg reported.
