1. Deployment - Carbon Accounting Software: Swisscom, a $13 billion majority state-owned telecommunications company in Switzerland, now leverages Sweep software to aggregate all of its carbon footprint supply chain data in one place, Diginomica reported.

3. Research - Renewable Energy and Data Centers: Fully 96% of executives believe renewables can meet future AI demand, but only 13% are willing to make clean power use non-negotiable if it slows deployment or raises costs, KPMG research found. Companies that addressed guaranteed access to clean power by 2027 will secure a lasting competitive advantage, KPMG predicted. 4. Partnership - IT Analysis: KPMG UK collaborated with sustainability tech firm GoCodeGreen (GCG) in early 2024 to launch a Sustainable IT Programme. The program was designed to help KPMG "measure, manage, and reduce ICT-related emissions—not through lofty ambitions, but through practical, data-driven action."
5. Talent - ESG Software: Deloitte veteran Viral Thakker has joined Credibl, which develops ESG data management and reporting software.
6. Talent - Data Centers: atNorth has named Bára Hlín Kristjánsdóttir as director of PMO & product, and Jonas Lückner, director of commercial management.
7. Tesla AI Strategy: Tesla customers could be paid $100 to $200 a month if they allow Tesla to perform AI inference workloads when the electric vehicles (EVs) are not in use, CEO Elon Musk suggested, according to SeekingAlpha. Related: Tesla AI strategy timeline.
8. Quantum Computing Data Center: Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech has launched a Quantum Data Center in Barcelona, Spain. The center can host up to 10 quantum computers, while also offering Qilimanjaro’s Quantum-as-a-Service (QaaS) platform, SpeQtrum.
9. Partnership - Quantum Computing: HPE has formed the Quantum Scaling Alliance, a "global initiative dedicated to making quantum computing scalable, practical, and transformative across industries." Co-leaders include Masoud Mohseni from HPE Labs and Qolab CTO John Martinis. 1. Startup - Carbon Accounting Software: Shell veteran Steve Jansen has launched Papio Consulting and Papio Sustainability Manager (PSM), a software platform to "help corporations move from static ESG reporting to measurable action." The software is built for "sustainability managers, plant managers, ESG officers, and operational teams across multi-site and multi-countries corporations and industries - such as energy, oil & gas, power & utilities, chemicals, automotive and retail," the startup said. Shell veteran Steven Jansen launched the business.
C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News
1. COP30: The conference opened with the U.N. climate chief urging countries to cooperate rather than battle over priorities, as efforts to limit global warming are threatened by a fracturing international consensus. (Source: Reuters). Related: All COP30 news.
2. United Kingdom - Net Zero Buildings: The UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard (version 1) is expected to launch this winter. In the meantime, building owners can start measuring and reporting building performance against the Standard’s requirements, available in the Pilot Version, putting them in a good position to verify once the Standard has been launched, Construction Magazine reported.
