1. IT Infrastructure - Power Purchase Agreement (PPA): Cisco Systems has inked a long-term Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with R.Power S.A. through SR Inc's Net Zero Consortium for Buyers (NZCB). 2. Building and Data Center Management: Trane Technologies has launched Trane Cloud, a digital platform that allows building operators, facility teams, and energy managers to "operate buildings more efficiently, reliably and sustainably."
3. ITAD Workflow Automation: Blancco Technology Group has launched Blancco Asset Reimaging, a Windows OS reinstallation engine that allows IT asset disposition (ITAD) firms to move from sanitizing, diagnosing, and grading devices to re-imaging within a single workflow.
3. IT Services: Bell Integration, backed by 1,000 employees, plans to further sharpen its focus on sustainable IT services, GRC Director Vicky Withey said.
4. Partnership - Data and Food Supply Chain: Green Project Technologies and HowGood are partnering to "help organizations accelerate supplier engagement, improve Scope 3 emissions data quality and drive faster progress towards net zero across food & beverage, hospitality, grocery retail and any industry managing both food and non-food suppliers," the two companies said.
5. Standards: GHG Protocol has released a Land Sector and Removals (LSR) Standard, which seeks to establish a global standard for companies to quantify, report, and track GHG emissions and CO2 removals from agricultural land use, ESG Today reported.
6. Research - Market Growth Forecast: While market growth forecasts for sustainability & ESG have been tempered from the very high expectations in 2025, they are still forecast to grow 7.3% and 7.2% per year until 2029, according to Environment Analyst.
7. Research - Business Data: Business leaders are investing in data quality and governance, and they’re breaking down silos between finance, technology, and sustainability, because enterprise value can no longer be explained or defended by any one function alone, a Workiva benchmark survey found. 8. Executive Departure: CapitaLand Investment (CLI) sustainability chief Vinamra Srivastava is has departed the business, Srivastava disclosed on LinkedIn.
9. Talent - Management Consulting: Kearney has promoted Angela Hultberg to global head of sustainability.

11. Lawsuit vs Anthropic: Universal Music Publishing Group, Concord Music Group, and ABKCO Music filed a $3.1 billion lawsuit against Anthropic on January 28, 2026, alleging Anthropic built Claude AI on a foundation of torrented piracy, Gadget Review reported. B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches
1. Accelerator: OQ Group organizes a Business Accelerator Programme that "helps startups to develop technological, engineering, and environmental solutions in the fields of energy, sustainability, and advanced technologies, reported ONA."
2. Accelerator: Two Stanford students -- Roman Scott and Itbaan Nafi -- have raised $2 million for an accelerator program called Breakthrough Ventures, which aims to fund businesses founded by college students and recent graduates nationwide, TechCrunch reported.
3. Accelerator: Blue Action Canada in January 2026 opened applications for an accelerator programme that serves early-stage startups in the blue economy. The initiative is run by COAST, Pacific Canada's hub for the sustainable blue economy, alongside global startup investor Founders Factory and climate-focused investor Blue Action. 4. M&A - Data Centers: Private equity firm KKR and Singapore Telecommunications are buying ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC). The deal involves an implied enterprise value of approximately S$13.8 billion (approximately US$10.9 billion), the buyers said. STT GDC, based in Singapore, has 2.3GW of design capacity across 12 major markets in Asia Pacific, the United Kingdom and Europe. Amid the deal, "STT GDC is well-positioned to shape the future of sustainable digital infrastructure and continue delivering value to our customers, partners and employees," according to Bruno Lopez, president & group CEO of STT GDC.
5. M&A - IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) Services: Mitsubishi Materials Corporation (MMC) of Japan has completed the acquisition of Elemental USA E-Waste & ITAD Inc. The deal initially was announced in December 2025. Related: M&A list of ITAD buyers, sellers & private equity investors.

European Union - Climate Change Strategy: The European Union is mulling a new strategy in its diplomatic efforts on climate change after a bruising COP30 summit in 2025, during which the EU struggled to rally support for faster, more ambitious action to cut planet-heating emissions, an internal EU document seen by Reuters showed.
