A. Sustainable IT, Talent, Partnerships and Green Tech Alliances

1. IT Asset Disposition (ITAD): An IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) service from HP is helping Renault Group to achieve its corporate social responsibility goals, CIO reported. Related: HP's sustainable IT services strategy.

2. DeepSeek AI and Energy Consumption: At first glance, DeepSeek may be more energy efficient than OpenAI and Anthropic. But here's the twist: The energy DeepSeek saves in training "is offset by its more intensive techniques for answering questions, and by the long answers they produce," MIT Technology Review reports.

3. Partnership - Generative AI and Energy Applications: EPAM and Baker Hughes are partnering on AI system deployments in the energy sector.

4. Financial Services: Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is the latest financial services firm to exit the Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), a United Nations-sponsored initiative focused on sustainable finance, Reuters reported.

B. Sustainability M&A, Climate Tech Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches

1. M&A - Solar Energy Integrators: The Awareness Group has acquired Renewable Energy Products Manufacturing (REPM), a provider of commercial solar energy solutions. REPM, based in Collingswood, New Jersey, has completed more than 1,000 solar installations across 16 states. Financial Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News

1. United States - Georgia Power vs Consumer Advocates: Georgia Power needs to tap fossil fuels to keep up with data center energy demand, the utility asserts. The Georgia Power energy plan faces criticism from consumer advocates who expect rising costs, and environmentalists who question the need for fossil fuels.

2. United States- California Solar Plant to Shutter?: The Ivanpah solar power plant -- once the world's largest solar power plant of its type appears -- headed for closure just 11 years after opening amid under pressure from cheaper green energy sources, ABC news reported. The plant is in the Mojave Desert.

3. United States - Chicago, Illinois, Climate Projects: The City of Chicago is marching forward with various climate goals even as the Trump administration abandons various environmental efforts, Inside Climate News reported.

4. United States- South Carolina Solar Energy: South Carolina ranks 19th for total installed solar capacity in the country, but a Silicon Ranch buildout could give the state a solar energy boost, Inside Climate News reported.

5. England - Agriculture and Solar Energy: More than 10% of England's farmland will be turned into solar farms or eco farms by 2050, Environment Secretary Steve Reed said, according to MSN.

6. New Zealand Exiting Paris Agreement?: New Zealand should consider withdrawing from the Paris Agreement on climate, according to ACT Party leader David Seymour, who is set to become deputy prime minister in 2025, Bloomberg reported.
