1. Managed IT Services: Logicalis is the first partner globally to achieve Cisco’s Sustainable Campus Access add-on specialization, the companies said. On a related note, Logicalis says it offers sustainable managed IT services that address:
- Power consumption monitoring and reporting: Logicalis helps clients keep a close eye on the power consumed by their devices.
- Equipment refresh: Outdated equipment is replaced with more energy-efficient alternatives, contributing to overall power savings.
- Responsible e-waste recycling: Logicalis provides responsible e-waste recycling options for its customers.
2. Partnership - Scope 3 Emissions Tracking: Precision machine parts processing company, Matsumoto Precision, has adopted SAP Sustainability Footprint Management to provide information on CO2 emissions per product to its business partners, Future IoT reported. Accenture assisted Matsumoto with the project, the report said.
3. Partnership - Refurbished Technology & Cloud Services:Â Back Market will leverage Google Cloud's infrastructure to "support its international expansion, enhance its customer service capabilities, and reinforce its sustainability goals," the refurbished technology provider said.
4. Partnership - Technology And Energy Transition: Google, Microsoft and Nucor are partnering to "develop new business models and aggregate their demand for advanced clean electricity technologies." Key focus areas include advanced nuclear, next-generation geothermal, clean hydrogen, long-duration energy storage (LDES) and others, the companies said. Nucor is a steelmaker and positions itself as the largest recycler in America.
5. Power Purchase Agreement - Microsoft and Solar: EDP Renewables North America and Volt Energy Utility are partnering to develop Hickory Solar Park in Jerseyville, Illinois. Microsoft has agreed to purchase electricity and renewable energy credits (RECs) for 15 years from the project, the companies said.
6. Data Center Designs - Digital Twin Software Part One: Cadence Design Systems has launched the Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform, which "virtualizes the entire data center and uses AI, high-performance computing (HPC) and physics-based simulation to significantly improve data center energy efficiency by up to 30%," the company asserted. Key customers include Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).
7. Data Center Designs - Digital Twin Software Part Two: Bridge Data Centres International (BDC) will leverage digital twin AI technology from Red Dot Analytics for data centre resilience, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.
8. Software - Supply Chain Management: Tarmac, a supplier of sustainable building solutions, will leverage River Logic's Digital Planning Twin technology to optimize its cement business supply chain.
9. Software - Real Estate Management: GRESB in April 2024 plans to launch REAL Solutions, a suite of tools for real estate asset managers and investors that want to track the sustainability, resilience and efficiency of assets.
10. Consulting Expertise: Environmental Analyst continues to expand the Sustainability Delivery Group from the UK to North America.
11. Carbon Removal and Storage:Â Running Tide has moved more than 21,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (Co2e) into storage in the deep ocean, where it will be locked away from the atmosphere for centuries-to-millennia, the company serts. Key customers include Microsoft, Shopify, GoodZero, Patch and Stripe.
12. Renewable Energy Opportunities and Challenges: An IBM blog lists the opportunities and challenges associated with renewable energy.
13. ESG Knowledge Base: Uniqus Consultech Inc., a consulting company focused on ESG, accounting and reporting, has launched UniQuest. The web-based product allows finance and sustainability executives to research various ESG matters.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. Electric Vehicle (EV) Financing: Fisker announced a financing commitment from an existing investor providing up to $150 million of gross proceeds, the EV company said. Fisker may also receive an investment from a large automaker, though negotiations are ongoing. The developments may help the EV maker to avoid a bankruptcy filing.
2. Funding - Reverse Logistics: G2 Reverse Logistics of Pittsburgh has raised $9.6 million in seed funding led by Dell Technologies Capital.
3. Startup Funding - ESG Management: Daato, an ESG management platform from Berlin, has raised roughly €5 million in seed funding, led by Kopa Ventures in partnership with Neosfer, and IBB Ventures, EU Startups reported.
4. M&A - Supply Chain Logistics: Accenture has acquired Flo Group, a European consultancy and Oracle business partner specializing in global supply chain logistics. We'll be watching to see if or how the Flo Group team assists customers with sustainable supply chain projects. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
5. M&A - Solar Power: Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has acquired a solar PV portfolio in the south of Spain with a capacity of more than 420 MWp. The portfolio is expected to produce approximately 916,000 MWh of clean energy each year, servicing the needs of more than 275,000 homes in the region and displacing approximately 184,000 tons of CO2 emissions, Recurrent Energy said. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

1. COP29 Preparations - Open Letter: The WWF, an independent conservation organization, has published an open letter calling on climate leaders to address NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions), finance and energy transition priorities ahead of the COP29 conference.
2. The Philippines - Smart Meters: The Philippines has granted a compliance certificate for SparkMeter's energy meter solutions. SparkMeter has multiple pilot projects under way in the country. The meters and associated software provide flexible billing, customer communications, and remote monitoring and control.
3. United Kingdom - Wind Power Delivery: The UK’s energy regulator has fast-tracked the approval of a subsea cable from Scotland to England, paving the way to connect 2 million homes with clean wind power, Bloomberg reported.
4. Scotland - Climate Challenges: Scotland is unlikely to reach its 2030 climate goals as the required acceleration in emissions cuts isn’t credible, according to the UK’s Climate Change Committee, Bloomberg reported.
