A. Sustainable Technology, Talent, Partnerships and Green IT Alliances
1. New Chief Sustainability Officer: Boeing has named Brian Moran as chief sustainability officer.
2. Data Centers: Equinix has signed a new Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Neoen in Sweden. The deal will add 15MW of wind generation capacity to the local grid via Storbrännkullen Wind Farm, Energy Digital reported.
3. Partnership - Cloud Services: CGI and Google Cloud are partnering to develop the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Sustainability Planet Platform, a "data-driven source for countries to identify sustainability challenges such as air pollution, rising temperatures, and flooding." The platform is designed to support UNIDO's unique mandate to promote, dynamize, and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development, the two companies said.
4. Partnership - AWS: Adastra Group has launched a Cloud Analytics Solution in the AWS marketplace. The software is "designed for businesses to maximize operational efficiencies while meeting sustainability targets." Adastra’s solution utilizes advanced analytics techniques to collect, measure, and calculate an organization’s carbon footprint, the company asserted.
5. Partnership - Clean Energy Marketplace: LevelTen Energy has launched the Granular Certificate (GC) Trading Alliance -- a collaboration with AES, Constellation, Google, and Microsoft to "build the market infrastructure needed to scale time- and location-based carbon-free energy" for power purchase agreements (PPAs).
6. Partnership - Generative AI: DevryBV Sustainability Strategies and Improvability AI are partnering to promote Generative AI for improving companies’ sustainability outcomes.
7. Partners of the Year: Car manufacturer Stellantis has announced its innovation partners of the year. Many of those partners focus on sustainability.
8. Partnership: Boston Consulting Group and Climeworks have signed a 15-year carbon removal agreement.
9. Consulting: Eddy Andrews Consulting Services of Australia has has expanded its service catalog to include Strategic Sustainability Planning; Green Technologies Integration; Stakeholder Engagement for Impact; Innovative Resource Management; and Triple Bottom Line Reporting.
10. Omnichannel Marketing: Teads, a global media platform, announced new built-in carbon emissions reporting in Teads Ad Manager powered by the Scope3 sustainability platform. The offering provides advertisers and agencies with a holistic understanding of their CTV and omnichannel campaign emissions with comparison to global benchmarks.
11. Retail: The National Retail Federation (NRF) has introduced the Center for Retail Sustainability, which is designed to help retailers generate economic value while also creating benefits for the environment, communities and societies, Retail Touch Points reported.
12. Shipping - Last Mile Services: WARP and GoBolt have partnered to help Canadian retailers offer electric last-mile shipping services.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. Funding - Aviation: Private aviation group Luxaviation is launching a “Go-to-Zero” investment fund to "introduce sustainability measures in all aspects of the way it does business," the company said. Financial details were not disclosed.
2. Funding - Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Dimensional Energy has raised $20 million in Series A funding to "accelerate sustainable aviation fuel production and the decarbonization of our economy." The funding round was led by Envisioning Partners, with strategic participation from United Airlines’ Sustainable Flight Fund, Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund, RockCreek Group’s Smart Aviation Futures fund, DSC Investment, Delek US, New York Ventures, Climate Tech Circle, and continuing support from existing investors New Climate Ventures, Elemental Excelerator, Chloe Capital, and Launch New York among others.
3. Clean Energy - Good News?: Efforts to decarbonize the global economy are reaching a turning point, according to Goldman Sachs Research.
4. M&A - Energy Transitions: Uplight is acquiring AutoGrid, a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) provider. The twist: Schneider Electric is the seller -- and the buyer?
5. M&A - Telecom and Network Solutions: TXO, a provider of end-to-end circular telecom network solutions, has acquired Lynx UK Ltd, a specialist network decommissioning and engineering solutions provider. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
6. M&A - Engineering and Energy Transitions: Legence, a Blackstone company focused on energy transitions, has acquired OCI Associates (OCI), a Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) consulting engineering and Commissioning firm in Florida. OCI, based in Orlando, offers such services as lighting design, fire protection, and project management. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
7. M&A - Consulting: ClimeCo, a global sustainability company, has acquired Ampliphi and its plastic action program, the Plastic Scorecard. These assets will "further enhance ClimeCo's ability to deliver authentic sustainability results with expert-led advisory services," the buyer said. Financial terms of the deal were noit disclosed.
