McCann and Partners Names Head of Sustainability: 3 Things to Know

May 9, 2023 by Joe Panettieri

McCann and Partners has promoted Virginia Clement to associate and head of sustainability. Clement joined the mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy in August 2021.

Here are three things to know about the announcement:

1. McCann Partners Business Focus and Scale: McCann and Partners, based in Wales, provides building services associated with Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineering Systems. The company, founded in 1955 and incorporated in 2005, has roughly 40 employees. The firm provides specialist sustainability services for various buildings and masterplans, advising on designs that will mitigate sustainability risks and comply with a range of environmental standards, including BREEAM, Code for Sustainable Homes/ Home Quality Mark, the company said. The firm is currently working on over 100 projects across the UK - helping our clients reduce and manage their carbon footprints and creating routes to Net Zero Carbon, the company indicated.

2. Virginia Clement's Focus: Clement joined McCann in August 2021. In her new role as head of sustainability, she will "provide guidance to clients aspiring for decarbonization and a net zero carbon future, creating carbon reduction plans and whole life carbon studies." In earlier roles, she worked on closed loop sanitation systems in Africa, and self-sustaining buildings in South Wales.

3. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement about Clement's new role, McCann and Partners Director Geraint Hopkins said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce Virginia’s promotion to Associate and Head of the Sustainability Department which is thoroughly deserved. Gini joined the company less than two years ago and her rapid rise to Associate is testament to her expertise, hard work, dedication, organization, and mentoring skills. We look forward to our Sustainability Department pushing on from strength to strength.”

4. Bonus - Why Technology Partners Should Care: By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC. Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
