IBM has launched a remote monitoring and management (RMM) software platform to help customers maintain and optimize their renewable energy assets.
The platform, called IBM Maximo Renewables, allows customers to:
- Track and monitor renewable asset performance;
- plan and manage maintenance work; and
- identify root-causes for efficiency losses and recommend actions.
The software supports wind farms, solar power plants, battery storage systems, and more, the technology company said.
The company did not mention whether the software is multi-tenant -- a feature that would allow MSPs (managed IT service providers) to manage multiple customers from a single dashboard.
Meanwhile, traditional RMM software platforms for MSPs -- from companies such as ConnectWise, Kaseya, NinjaOne and N-able -- have yet to announce sustainability-focused software initiatives.
IBM Sustainability Software Portfolio
IBM's software portfolio includes additional sustainability-focused management tools. Examples include:
- IBM Envizi ESG Suite, the company's flagship sustainability software, allows customers to capture, consolidate, manage, analyze and report on environmental, social and governance data.
- A capability launched in May 2024, called Envizi Planning and Forecasting, integrates Envizi’s ESG data model with an established planning and forecasting suite, known as IBM Planning Analytics.
- Another capability previewed in May 2024, called Maximo Application Suite 9.0, supports Work Order Intelligence powered by watsonx, Field Service Management, and an Emissions Management Module. These capabilities streamline asset management across the business, a spokesperson said at the time.
The company does not disclose revenue figures for its overall sustainability software portfolio. Related: IBM sustainability strategy explained.
