Element Fleet Management Corp. has promoted Claire M. Murphy to executive VP, chief legal and sustainability officer. Here are four things to know about the automotive fleet management company, and Murphy's executive experience.

1. Business Scope and Scale: Element Fleet Management, founded in 1946, is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Net revenue was $1.1 billion in 2024, up 13% compared to 2023, the company said.

Element positions itself as the largest pure-play automotive fleet management company in the world. 4. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement about Murphy's new role, Element CEO Laura Dottori-Attanasio said: “Claire is a passionate, meticulous and empathetic leader who has played an integral role helping to establish our new leasing centre of excellence in Ireland. She is a tremendous addition to our global Executive Team, and I am confident she will continue to be an integral partner, driving our organization towards success and delivering value to our clients, team members, and communities."

Added Murphy: “At such a pivotal time for our organization, I am honoured to step into this new role as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer. I look forward to driving forward our legal, sustainability, data, and digital security strategies, while working collaboratively with our talented global team to deliver meaningful impact and continued success."

Chief Sustainability Officers: Why Technology Partners Should Care

By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.

Admittedly, we don't know if or how President Donald Trump's policies will pressure CSO roles in the United States. Regardless, we believe that technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill CSO needs.
