1. Partnership - Green Data Centers: e& (formerly known as Etisalat Group) and Huawei are working together to build green and energy-efficient networks in the UAE, the two companies said.
2. Partnership - Green Software Coding Strategies: CAST and Metafinanz, a consulting subsidiary of Allianz, are partnering to assist customers with green software coding. The effort involves application electricity consumption, code review, implementation of improvements, and subsequent re-measurement. Among the areas of expertise to note: Metafinanz has developed specific Green Coding Guidelines for Python and Java.
3. Partnership - Data Center Carbon Emissions: World Wide Technology (WWT) will leverage NZero's NZero's 24/7 carbon emissions tracking and measurement technology to help decarbonize data centers.
4. AI for Financial Applications: Microsoft is launching Copilot for Finance, an AI-driven assistant to help CFOs, accountants and other employees with financial applications. The move essentially counters Sage Copilot.
5. GE Vernova Spin-Off Date: General Electric expects to officially spin off GE Vernova on April 2, 2024, under the ticker symbol "GEV".
6. Electric Vehicles: Fisker stock plummeted February 29 after the company expressed doubts it can continue as a going concern after a difficult year exacerbated by high interest rates and inability to deliver the Ocean SUV as quickly as expected, Seeking Alpha reported.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. Funding: The U.S. Department of Energy announced up to $30 million in additional funding to support two carbon management priorities:
- the conversion of carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚) into environmentally responsible and economically valuable products; and
- the development of lower-cost, highly efficient technologies to capture COâ‚‚ from industrial sources and power plants for permanent storage or conversion.
2. M&A - Environmental Consulting: Montrose Environmental Group has acquired Two Dot Consulting, an environmental consultancy specializing in regulatory services to the oil and gas, and renewables sectors in the Rocky Mountain and adjacent regions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
