A. Sustainable Technology, Talent, Partnerships and Alliances
1. Annual ESG Reports: Our global database of annual sustainability and ESG reports now spans 265 companies. The latest additions include infrastructure company Black & Veatch and building siding specialist James Hardie.
2. Talent - Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Technology: Blink Charging has hired Allbridge and Trilliant Networks veteran Jenifer Yokley as senior VP of global marketing. Yokley also held key posts at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and Schneider Electric.Â
3. Talent - Energy Management and Automation Technology: Schneider Electric named Antonio Di Vaira as senior VP of its Power Products division for the North American hub (NAM). In this new role, Di Vaira will "champion the evolution of the New Energy Landscape, accelerate sustainable growth, and lead strategic initiatives that reinforce Schneider Electric's commitment to energy innovation," the company said.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments and Funding
1. Funding: Blackstone Inc. raised $7.1 billion for a fund to finance solar companies, electric car parts makers and technology to cut carbon emissions, Bloomberg reported.
2. Private Equity: LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, has acquired a minority stake in supply chain sustainability specialist Sedex.
3. M&A: Heramba Holdings is acquiring Kiepe Electric, a company focused on decarbonization of commercial and public transportation. Kiepe Electric has roughly 580 employees across six countries around the world. In 2022, Kiepe Electric had revenues in excess of $120 million. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News
1. United States: The U.S. Department of Energy announced that projects in Texas and Louisiana to remove more than 2 million tonnes of carbon emissions will get over $1 billion in federal grants, a key step in scaling up direct air capture (DAC) technology, Reuters reported.
2. Canada: The country released long-awaited draft clean electricity regulations designed to create a net-zero emissions power grid by 2035, and said some continued use of fossil fuels would be allowed, Reuters reported.
3. United Kingdom: Most UK companies aren’t setting targets to cut their emissions, putting them on a collision course with increasingly strict climate regulations, according to an analysis by Bain & Co. and nonprofit CDP, as reported by Bloomberg.
4. Australia - Greenwashing Lawsuit: Australia’s corporate watchdog is suing a second pension fund over greenwashing, accusing Active Super of misleading customers about barring investments on ethical grounds, Bloomberg reported..
